The first International Magic Festival in Sardinia arrives in Iglesias for three packed days dedicated to the art of illusionism in all its astonishing variations, according to a schedule that sees an exceptional cast of Masters of magic from all over the world in the spotlight. The event, one of a kind, is organized by the Girogirando Cultural Association in collaboration with the municipal administration and the Pro Loco of Iglesias and will pave the way for the broader “Iglesias Summer Wave” program which will take place in the city during all summer.
From 14 to 16 June, with the very first edition of the OMNI MAGIC Sardinia Magic Festival, a tight marathon of events will begin, including shows, transformations, street magic, conferences and workshops dedicated to everyone, which will transform the historic center and the Electra Theater by Iglesias in chimerical sets where everything is possible, on the border between reality, appearance and magic. The art of illusionism and magic have very ancient roots and see manual and mental skills, creativity and acting skills expertly intertwined, so that every trick becomes a real show. The Festival, with its innovative, scenographic and spectacular spirit of a great event, thus embraces the curiosity of the vast public who today more than ever wants to be amazed and excited. The artistic director of the Girogirando association Andrea Fiori says: «We decided to create this event to give value to the art of illusionism and prestidigitation. Sardinia has always had its own magical reality, where the greatest talents in the world have performed, but almost exclusively in private contexts, such as prestigious resorts, with limited access».
The OMNI MAGIC Sardinia Magic Festival therefore represents the first and only major magical event open to the entire population and involving an audience of all ages, from children to adults. «Furthermore – continues Andrea Fiori – being a magician myself, I decided to involve not only the population, but also many Sardinian professionals who will perform, alongside international artists, during the event. It will be a unique opportunity for all enthusiasts and operators in the sector to be able to participate actively and free of charge in meetings and conferences in which the world’s aces will make their secrets available».
A precious opportunity for the municipality of Iglesias, for its inhabitants and for the tourist population with a view to strengthening the image of the city abroad by creating vital connections with other countries. The Festival is a spectacular moment but also an occasion for celebration and socialization designed to leave a marked mark of intervention in the territory, with a view to meeting people in the name of culture, exchange and entertainment.
It starts on June 14th, at 5.00 pm, at the Electra Theater with the conference by the Spanish Damaso Fernandez dedicated to magicians and enthusiasts. Afterwards, at 7.00 pm in Piazza Sella in the Girogirando stand, there will be space for the little ones with the magic school. At 8.45pm, the street magic begins through the streets of the historic center with the Mozzarella Clown Magic Show in Piazza Sella. There are many other stops with as many artists: at 9.30 pm in Piazza Lamarmora the magic show The Hatz (magic comedy) will be on stage, continuing at 10.15 pm with Rocco Borsalino’s performance in Piazza Pichi (hypnotic cabaret) and finishing at 11.00 pm in Piazza Sella with the Gran Circo Disastro (circus and magic).
The Festival continues on June 15th with some conferences at the Electra Theater in which famous international professionals participate. The Hatz will open the proceedings at 10.30 am. Following at 3.00 pm, directly from Spain, Greca De Blas intervenes, who gives way at 4.30 pm to Tino Fimiani. At 7.00 pm the events move again to the heart of the historic center, in Piazza Sella, with the gathering and parade of magic wands for the little magicians, together with Mickey Mouse the magician and the Girogirando entertainers. The day ends at 10.00 pm again in Piazza Sella, with the Gran Galà di Magia where seven international artists perform: Tino Fimiani, (presenter), Mycras (manipulator), Gino D’Alessandro (cardician), Luca Lombardo (transformist), Rocco Borsalino (hypnotic cabaret) and Ernesto Planas (world-famous artist and umbrella manipulator who comes directly from Cuba).
Finally on June 16th, starting at 3.30 pm, at the Electra Theatre, doors open to the conference by Gianluigi Sordellini and Gino D’Alessandro. Grand finale at 9.00 pm with the Close Up Gala for a closing of the Festival which sees extraordinary artists such as the Spanish Damaso Fernandez, Greca De Blas, Gino D’Alessandro, Gianluigi Sordellini, The Hats and the Sardinian illusionist par excellence shine on stage Alfredo Barrago.
