ANCONA Three years’ imprisonment. This is the sentence handed down yesterday afternoon by judge Maria Elena Cola to a 48-year-old originally from Liberia accused of road injuries for the huge accident that occurred on November 25, 2018, on the Flaminia. The man, who according to investigations was driving with a blood alcohol level between 2.73 and 3.44 g/l, will have his license suspended for two years.

The budget

The surveys on a pouring rain evening were entrusted to local police officers. The balance sheet: four of them ended up in the Torrette hospital, of which three (including the accused) were on a guarded prognosis. The car driven by the 48-year-old, an Opel Corsa, had also been engulfed in flames after the crash with the car (an Alfa Mito) which was proceeding along the opposite lane, therefore in the direction of Ancona.

The clash occurred at the height of the Barducci landslide. The Opel was heading towards Falconara. The 48-year-old was driving, carrying two women and a man. According to what local police officers detected, the driver had attempted to overtake on the double continuous line, invading the oncoming lane. The Alfa Mito driven by a 63 year old from Fabriano was arriving here. The impact was so violent that the Alfa crashed into a third car, a Fiat Punto which was proceeding towards Ancona.

The rescue task force immediately set in motion, also considering that the Opel had caught fire. The two women from the small car ended up in hospital: initially, the prognosis was reserved, then released to 20 and 30 days. One had suffered multiple rib fractures, the other multiple traumas. The conditions of the third person transported were less serious (10 day prognosis). The drivers of the Alfa and Punto were unharmed. The 48-year-old was officially defended by the lawyer Annalisa Galeazzi.
