Maks Kasnikowski is the protagonist of the evening session at the International Tennis City of Perugia | GIMa. Tennis Cup, the ATP Challenger 125 tournament organized by MEF Tennis Events on the courts of the Perugia Tennis Club. The Pole, number 243 in the world, closed the program by defeating the number 3 seed Borna Coric with a score of 7-5 6-4. In the quarter-finals he will face Sumit Nagal, victorious over Alessandro Giannessi 0-6 7-5 7-6(5) at the start of the day. Next is the number 2 seed, Laslo Djere who with a score of 6-4 7-5 overcame the obstacle Jesper De Jong; while in the late afternoon, Bernabe Zapata Miralles put an end to the run of the Italian qualifier Federico Arnaboldi, winning 6-4 6-4.

Perugia discovers the Polish Kasnikowski – In front of a once again packed Center Court, Borna Coric surrendered to Maks Kasnikowski 7-5 6-4. A perfect performance to say the least for the Pole, number 243 in the world, who after defeating Francesco Maestrelli on his debut once again overturned the odds. “Borna is a fantastic player, I grew up watching his matches on the biggest stages – Maks’ words at the end of the match -. He has been on the tour for more than ten years, I am happy with my performance against such a high level player. I served great and the sensations are really good.” Winner of the Oeiras Challenger at the beginning of the year, the twenty-year-old from Warsaw won his first victory over a Top 100 last week, beating Daniel Altmaier, and in Perugia he repeated it by defeating the ATP number 88: “I’m having an incredible season. I started 2024 by winning my first Challenger title and the growth is continuing. I want to thank all my team who are helping me in this process, as well as my brother, who always brings good luck when he is with me.” With the tournament and the city it was love at first sight, now Kasnikowski doesn’t want to stop: “The atmosphere here is beautiful. The people make their support felt for all the players and the organization of the tournament is incredible, as is the club. Yesterday I also had the opportunity to visit the center of Perugia and I was fascinated by it.” In the quarter-finals the Pole will face the number 6 seed Sumit Nagal: “he IS a friend and he often gives me advice before matches. He will think about enjoying every single moment of the challenge and who knows, maybe even accomplishing another feat.”

Arnaboldi out, Djere ok – In the late afternoon, after the interruption due to rain, came the second defeat of the day for an Italian tennis player (in the morning Nagal had eliminated Alessandro Giannessi 0-6 7-5 7-6(5)). In fact, Federico Arnaboldi’s run stops in the round of 16 and, starting from the qualifiers, he surrendered to Bernabe Zapata Miralles with a score of 6-4 6-4. For a place in the semi-finals the Spaniard will face the number 2 seed of the ATP Challenger 125 tournament organized by MEF Tennis Events, Laslo Djere, victorious over Jesper De Jong 7-5 6-4.
