ANCONA – Not even twenty days to appoint the new artistic director of Marche Teatro. The external commission screened the 22 nominations. Yesterday morning the Marche Teatro board of directors received the list of candidates on the table. The actor Alessandro Preziosi is out. Inside the Catanian playwright Giuseppe Dipasquale.
The requirement
The quibbled exclusion for a requirement not fully achieved: having directed a TRIC (theatre of significant cultural interest) for at least 5 years. Preziosi led the Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo from 2011 to 2014. For two years he lost his cape. He who, among other things, received a standing ovation in Montecitorio last May 30th when he recited Matteotti’s last speech in front of the highest officials of the state (Meloni, La Russa, Mattarella in the front row). Silvetti, the mayor, was looking for a high profile figure of national importance for the Muse, capable of intercepting resources outside the regional borders. Exactly, who better than Preziosi? Yet those two less years as director of the L’Aquila theater organization cost him his salary. And luckily he was liked by the mayor, by a part of the Marche Teatro board of directors and by a good part of the theatrical-cultural world of Ancona. Appreciated by most, but not by all. Rumors have reached the upper floors of the Massimo Dorico of a relationship that ended badly between Preziosi and the Abruzzo board of directors due to the actor’s numerous absences. Another note of demerit? Strange, because in the Marche Teatro announcement it states that a presence of 15 days a month must be guaranteed. And among the three eligible candidates, none are from Ancona. There is even a figure from abroad. It is unlikely that he will settle in the city.
The turnaround
Now, the reversal of the Doric board of directors is highly unlikely. Unless councilor Anna Maria Bertini, by right a board member of Marche Teatro, pulls the balance and shifts the specific weight of her delegation onto Preziosi. In this case, at least once, you would show that you respond to the lines of your mayor. But Silvetti himself could also assert the reasons for his role. After all, Mancinelli did it when she imposed Velia Papa at the top of the theater. So it wouldn’t be an out of the ordinary move. Wanting is power. Indeed, in this case being able is wanting (doing). Unless, from the top of Bertini, catapulted onto the seats of the council by the deus ex machina Carlo Ciccioli, there are precise indications. Ultimately, those two discriminating years are not insurmountable. The mayor himself had said that that expression of interest is not binding. So just impose yourself for once.
