Aprilia, Ducati and Paton: three Italian manufacturers that particularly stood out at the Tourist Trophy this year. The 2024 edition of the oldest and most prestigious road race in the world has made headlines for numerous reasons, such as Michael Dunlop overtaking his uncle Joey as the most successful ever on the Isle of Man, the first road crash by Peter Hickman and the consecration of Davey Todd, who went from rising star to winner of two TTs. It was also an excellent year for the Italian colors and, after having been told about the experience lived by the riders (here are the interviews with Francesco Curinga and Stefano Bonetti) the time has come to focus on the bikes, given that all three brands mentioned above have lived two highly positive weeks in terms of results.

Aprilia: from the podium with the 660 to the “130 club” with the RSV4
After the first tests, we wrote that a podium of Mike Browne With the’Aprilia it would have been possible and, in fact, in Race 2 of the class Supertwin one arrived Top 3 by the Irish rider riding the RS 660. It’s true, the race was declared over after the first lap due to a red flag, but at the time of the display Browne was in full battle for third place with Dominic Herbertson and they would certainly have come to fight for the position until the end of the second and final round.
In any case, Mike brought the Noale company back to the podium at the Tourist Trophy two years after Lee Johnstonwho had always succeeded with an RS 660. For Aprilia it is the third podium in its history at the TT, given that the first was obtained by the timeless John McGuinness in the 1996 edition, but this was not the only great result this year. In fact, Browne himself also stood out among the “big bikes” riding the bike RSV4 1100 of the IN Competition team, with whom during the Senior TT he completed a lap at an average speed of 130.536 miles per hour, thus entering the “130 Club” for the first time in his career despite a bike in almost Stock configuration, closing the most important race of the event in an encouraging sixth position.
