BOLZANO. In addition to the strong interest found at a national level, with candidates from 49 different countries, the data that stands out from the selection is that 94 South Tyroleans passed the test for the faculty of “Medicine and Surgery”.
A total of 347 students attempted the selection process: 50 of the 60 (total number of places available) first-place candidates have already confirmed pre-registration. Subsequent candidates will now scroll down the ranking to fill the positions still available.
The timeline will follow the registration process, until 6 September, while the accreditation of the institution should be completed at the end of July: the degree course is offered by the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and will be held at the Claudiana University Center for Health Professions , in collaboration with the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and the South Tyrolean Health Authority.
There is satisfaction for the councilor for health prevention and health, Hubert Messner: “75% of the South Tyrolean candidates passed the test, a very positive figure. Also noteworthy is the high number of applications from abroad. A great enrichment, as these students bring with them different scientific skills and approaches, which will benefit teaching quality.”
For the quota reserved for EU and equivalent students (50 places out of 60), 257 candidates presented themselves in the various test centers, of which 175 in Bolzano. In addition to 124 students from South Tyrol, 30 candidates from Trentino and 103 from other Italian regions or from abroad also participated.
The exam was passed by 207 people, of which 94 were from South Tyrol. Ten of the 60 places are reserved for non-EU citizens residing abroad (non-EU). 90 students competed for the assignment of these places, of which 76 passed the selection.
They are citizens of 31 different countries, ranging from Australia to Vietnam, from Azerbaijan to the USA, from Brazil to Turkey via Botswana, South Korea, Japan or Iran. Also considering the origins of the EU candidates, the medical degree course in Bolzano attracted young people from 49 different countries.
