“I’ll do whatever it takes…”

Valerio Antonini, president of Trapani who has spoken to our microphones several times declaring his faith in Lazio, in the space of just 13 months at the head of the football and basketball section of the Sicilian club he has achieved excellent results, winning a Serie D championship in football and a Italian Cup. His dream before ending his career, as he said, was to buy Lazio. Now, however, he is very focused on his objectives and in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport he proudly recounted the results achieved and the ambitions that are becoming bigger and bigger over time.

Antonini explained that, having initially moved to Trapani for personal reasons, he found an ideal environment to live and invest also as an entrepreneur. The most challenging promotion was in basketball, thanks also to the purchase of players such as Amar Alibegovic and Stefano Gentile, and the key victory against Fortitudo Bologna. For Serie A, he has set the goal of reaching at least the championship semi-finals and consolidating in Europe within three years, focusing on an ambitious project.

In football, Antonini dreams of replicating Parma’s history and he certainly won’t hold back: “I’ll do everything it takes to win, even investing heavily in January, if necessary.” He confirmed his faith in coach Alfio Torrisi, even if he intends to renew a large part of the team to face the new challenge in Serie C.

Joys but also regrets. For Antonini it is essential that we go out on the pitch giving our all especially for the fans. Precisely for this reason he revealed: “I didn’t like losing 5-1 to Campobasso in the final of the Poule scudetto. Regardless of the result, those who went out on the pitch didn’t have the right mindset because we conceded four goals in the first 23 minutes, I consider it a lack of respect for the fans and for a club that didn’t let them go without anything”.

The entrepreneur also recently purchased a local TV, Trapani Stadium and hopes one day to transform it into a national broadcaster also using the experience of Barbara D’Ursowho invited to the Trapani promotion party to give advice on how to improve the structure and schedules.

His source of inspiration? Berlusconi: “He was the greatest Italian entrepreneur of the last 40 years, I had the pleasure of knowing him.”

And speaking of great entrepreneurs, “Lazio” does not yet feel ready to take the big step, but one day it will be ready to offer president Claudio Lotito the amount he requests, as declared to Radiosei.
