Ragusa, tomorrow CSVE conference on “Involvement of the Third Sector in Criminal Procedure” –

“The Involvement of the Third Sector in Criminal Proceedings” is the theme of the conference organized by the Etna Volunteer Service Center which will be held on Thursday 13 June 2024, from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm, in the “Giorgio Firrincieli” room ” of the Court of Ragusa.

After having promoted several information meetings on the topic of the Cartabia Reform, published a mapping and sensitized groups of volunteers on the issues of community justice, the CSVE proposes a new moment of in-depth analysis. The Cartabia Reform opens a new scenario for alternative sentences, requiring a further investment in terms of understanding and knowledge from all those involved. The conference therefore looks precisely at the ETS already involved in testing processes and at all those who in various capacities deal with the issues of Restorative Justice. In fact, the Reform assigns a fundamental role to the Third Sector in probation projects, and aims to improve the efficiency of the judicial system by promoting alternative measures to detention, and strengthening the involvement of Third Sector organizations in treatment and compensation programs. This approach not only contributes to reducing recidivism, but also fosters greater restorative justice and a more inclusive community.

Among the interventions, that of Dr. Gemma Occhipinti, Judge at the Court of Ragusa who will speak on the “Treatment program and compensation action: comparison between the measures of Probation, Probation to SS and the alternative sentence of Work Public Utility”; there
Dr. Rosaria Ruggieri, ULEPE Director of Ragusa “External criminal execution in the perspective of community justice”; the lawyer Letizia Galati, Court of Catania “The role of the Third Sector in the protection of individuals and entities in criminal proceedings. The state of the art in light of the latest legislative news”; the lawyer Irene Russo, Ragusa Court “Restorative justice, the state of the art”; the lawyer Nunzio Citrella, President of the Iblei Penal Chamber “The conditions of Italian prisons and the need for efficiency of alternative solutions”; Dr. Giuseppe La Lota, Journalist of the newspaper La Sicilia “The relationship of the media with judicial sources and the world of the Third Sector in the comparison between the past and the present: what has changed?”
