Transfer market – Milan Under 23 in Serie C: from Bonera as coach to Camarda, what the squad will be like

After Juventus and Atalanta, here is the Milan. The Rossoneri club will also have its own Under 23 team, the so-called B team, in Serie C. The green light arrived in recent days thanks to Ancona’s exclusion from the third series, which after being saved at the end of last season did not obtain a favorable opinion from CoViSoc to register for the next championship. In short: the people from the Marche were rejected, having presented incomplete documentation and without the payments of the last two months to their members. The official announcement will arrive from the Federal Council on Friday. Ancona’s place, in fact, will be taken by the newborn AC Milan Under 23.

The coach: Bonera has already been chosen

The Rossoneri will presumably be placed in group A and will play their home matches in Solbiate Arno, in the province of Varese, a few kilometers from Milanello. But who will be part of the project? Meanwhile, a flag will sit on the bench: Daniele Bonera. Former Milan defender from 2006 to 2015, after ending his career as a footballer at Villarreal he returned to Milan in 2019 to be part of the technical staff of Marco Giampaolo first and then Stefano Pioli. At the end of May, a week after Pioli himself was sacked, he was the one who sat on the bench during the Australian friendly match lost against Roma. Milan has decided to entrust him with the role of first coach of the Under 23 team: a responsibility and at the same time an honor for those who were waiting and dreaming of the opportunity to test themselves.

The star will be Camarda

On the pitch, however, the spotlight will be focused above all on Francesco Camarda. Even if the manner and timing of the transition from the Primavera team must be understood for a player who, it is worth remembering, still turned 16 in March. In any case, we are talking about the man (or rather, the boy) symbol of a new generation. Of Milan, with whom at the end of November he became the youngest player to make his debut in Serie A (against Fiorentina, at 15 years and 260 days), but also and above all of our football. Camarda is not only the most representative element of the Rossoneri Primavera: he has just won the Under 17 European Championship as a protagonist with the Italy shirt, scoring a wonderful brace in the final against Portugal and being named best player of the tournament.

The others: from Simic to Bartesaghi

The rest of the squad will be made up of the many youngsters currently under contract with Milan: from those who are preparing to leave the Primavera’s age limits to those who are destined to find little space even with Paulo Fonseca, after having already received a low playing time from Pioli. In practice, the various Zeroli, Bartesaghi, Simic. In addition to Alex Jimenez, another who has already tasted the first team. Other elements of the Primavera, who have just said goodbye to Ignazio Abate after two years, are in contention: from Sia to Cuenca, through goalkeeper Raveyre, all great protagonists of the ride to the Youth League final, then lost against Olympiacos. It should not be forgotten who returns from loans and can be diverted to the U23: this is the case for example Marco Pellegrino, at Salernitana in the second part of the last championship. And then the various Lazetic, Traoré, the goalkeeper Vasquez, and so on. Camarda could instead be kept company in attack Marco Nastifresh from two years between Cosenza and Bari in Serie B and in the Italian Under 21 team.
