Choosing Venice as the venue for the Resort 2025 fashion show was a declaration of intent for Max Mara. First of all, the desire to tell the story, the lesser-known one, of Marco Polo, traveler and pioneer, who in his most famous work, The million, he knew how to tell of distant peoples, of free and indomitable women, of fine and precious yarns, like those seen on his pilgrimages to Mongolia. Venice, the heart of his work, is the epicenter of everything. The walkway was in fact placed inside Palazzo Pisani Moretta, a historic building of the Serenissima which represents an architectural jewel, embellished with majestic examples of Venetian decorative painting.
There, the silhouettes imagined and created by Ian Griffiths, Creative Director of the brand, wore camel, silk and velvet. Among the most sumptuous garments were the evening dresses, which slid softly over the shapes, enhancing them. Not only that: Max Mara’s Resort 2025 invites you to take refuge in soft trench coats and velvet dresses, but also light silk duster coats, blouses with generous sleeves, necklines of all kinds.
This time an accessory reigns supreme: the headdress. Inspired by turbans, the Max Mara headpiece is created in collaboration with one of millinery’s greatest living artists, Stephen Jones. A collaboration born between Griffiths and Jones following a lucky chat in a hotel bar in London, as the hat designer says. But what is their most special aspect? “The fact that they both look back and look forward, I wanted them to seem casual and carefree,” said Jones, who appreciates the elegance and grace of Max Mara creations, the fact that the clothes seem friends.
Friends of the body and its movements, hidden behind printed fabrics and inspired by the complex and extraordinary architecture of Venice. The decorations on the fabrics recall the leaves of the Venetian Gothic, but also Hinduism, discovered by Marco Polo during his travels, and the concept of Yin and Yang, in a collection that recalls multiple worlds, brings together multiple tastes, preserves art of tailored fashion.
