Municipality of Reggio, Falcomatà ‘goes ahead’ and assigns new delegations

The mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà ‘distances himself’ from the Duke and moves forward. “We operate with complete tranquility, it is not the first investigation we have faced in these ten years of administration. We will also face this in the knowledge that we have always operated with the utmost legality and it seems to me that the administration has always demonstrated this. We will also face this situation with maximum availability.”

These were Falcomatà’s first words yesterday, as soon as the news of the investigation coordinated by the DDA into alleged relations between the ‘Ndrangheta and politics exploded.

Probably also to give a political signal of wanting to continue with determination in the activity without being affected by the investigations, Mayor Falcomatà today assigned some delegations through a resolution.

The delegations assigned by Falcomatà

Mayor Falcomatà “decrees to confer on the following Municipal Councilors the task of carrying out collaborative tasks with the Mayor for the examination and study of specific topics and problems within the subjects listed below:

Latella Giovanni: Sports and sports facilities – Promotion of the city’s image – Tourism;

Massimiliano snack: Urban Furniture – Urban Decor – Adopt Green Project – Parks and Gardens – fight against stray dogs and animal protection;

• Francesco Barreca: Water and sewer maintenance, roads and cemeteries;

• Giordano Giuseppe: Decentralization — Heritage — Youth Policies;

Quartuccio Philip: Relations with neighborhood committees;

• Cuzzocrea Giuseppe: Public lighting, Personal

With the document published today, it is also decreed that “the councilors responsible for carrying out collaboration tasks in the aforementioned matters will be able to formulate and present proposals and solutions to the Mayor;
• the assignment does not constitute a delegation of functions and must be understood as excluding the adoption of acts of external relevance or management acts pertaining to bureaucratic bodies;
• the appointed municipal councilor has no decision-making powers of any kind different or additional to those deriving from the status of councilor;
• for carrying out the aforementioned tasks, no compensation is due to the municipal councilor since the councilors are only entitled to the attendance fee for participation in the meetings of the Municipal Council;
• the office can be revoked at any time by the Mayor and has a maximum duration not exceeding that of the Mayor’s mandate”, reads the resolution.

Some delegations were already held by the councilors (for example the water sector to Franco Barreca and public lighting to Pino Cuzzocrea), while the assignments to Barreca and Cuzzocrea themselves for road maintenance and personnel were new.

However, Falcomatà continues to keep the delegation to culture to itself while the mystery remains for the great events and Marian holidays. After Marcantonio Malara made it official that he had taken a step back, at the moment there does not appear to be a specific delegate, it is likely that Falcomatà himself will carry out the delegation in concert with councilor Marisa Lanucara.
