From Favara to Palermo, in Sicily “Paesaggi Aperti” promotes redevelopment

The itinerant development of “Open Landscapes” in Sicily, stage after stage, is building multidisciplinary models capable of impacting the recovery of common spaces to generate “Heritage Communities”. The next appointment will be an integral part of Farm Cultural Park’s big birthday party.

On 21 June 2024 starting from 4pm in the Chiaramontano Castle, the presentation of the results of the workshop “Open landscapes to re-inhabit Favara” – created by In/Arch Sicilia with the participation of the Italian Association of Architecture and Criticism and Farm Cultural Park – in the scope of the “New normality” exhibition curated by Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, president of Aiac.

After the greetings of the president of In/Arch Sicilia Mariagrazia Leonardi, the speeches of Lucia Pierro (director of In/Arch Sicilia), Lillo Giglia and Giovanni Fiamingo will follow. The meeting will end with the report of the founder of Farm Cultural Park Andrea Bartoli and Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi. The workshop involved the designers AutonomeForme (Lucia Pierro), Lillo Giglia, LineaT Studio, Moncada&Rangel and NextBuild (G. Fiamingo, G. Russo and G. Benvenga) in the development of a proposal for the regeneration of the urban system of Favara which unfolds along Via Reale.

This important axis of the historic center which today is degraded and inaccessible due to abandonment and collapses caused by neglect can be reactivated by promoting an ecological settlement strategy based on inclusive and innovative urban visions.

The Favara stage follows that of Palermo, where the public meeting “Landscapes Open to the Community” was held – organized by In/Arch Sicilia with the Order and Foundation of PPC architects of the Province of Palermo dedicated to the relationship between participation, urban regeneration and legality. The event involved citizens and professionals in the debate on the territory and on the valorisation of places and the communities that live there.
