He would have mistreated both physically and psychologically the elderly man from Agrigento whom he had to take care of as a carer.

According to the investigation, a pensioner was subjected to habitual suffering and humiliation. A precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the court of Agrigento, is being executed for a woman from Agrigento arrested by the flying squad policemen. She is under investigation for the alleged crime of aggravated mistreatment.

The investigation began in recent days when the elderly man’s children presented themselves to the Agrigento flying squad and said they had hired the carer to take care of their parent who was now ill due to senile dementia. For some time, the family had noticed noticeable bruises on the body: the circumstance had also been noted by another caregiver of the elderly man who had raised suspicions towards her colleague. The policemen of the flying squad, authorized by the Agrigento prosecutor’s office, started audio-video interceptions in the elderly man’s home, managing to find that the caregiver was forcefully pulling, scratching and punching and slapping the head, face and other parts of the body. According to what emerged from the video interceptions, the elderly man was insulted and intimidated, often to force him to sleep. The suspect was taken to the Pasquale Di Lorenzo prison in Agrigento.
