The Pizzuta neighborhood is ready to celebrate the Feast of Sant’Antonio. A program of religious and folkloristic events will enliven the days of 12 and 13 June, involving faithful and citizens in an atmosphere of devotion and celebration. On Wednesday 12 June, the eve of the festival, at 5.30 pm the faithful will find themselves welcomed by the Banda Musicale Città di Siracusa, at the S. Angela Merici Foundation. At 6.15pm, after the prayer to Saint Anthony, the procession with the relic of the Saint will be held, led by the Archbishop of Syracuse Francesco Lomanto, with the setting off of fireworks upon arrival in the parish. At the end of the procession, the Archbishop will preside over the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration. The evening will continue at 9.00 pm with the savory festival and the performance of the ANSPI Oratory and the ACR Sant’Antonio. Grand finale with the concert of the Euridice Ensemble directed by maestro Fausto Campisi. Thursday 13 June, the day of the celebration, the morning will be dedicated to religious celebrations. At 9.30 am the Holy Mass will be held with the blessing of the children in which the X IC Giaracà will participate, followed by the blessing and distribution of the votive bread. At noon the supplication to the Saint. After the 7pm Mass, the procession with the simulacrum of Saint Anthony will wind through the streets of the parish. The celebrations will end at 9pm with a concert of Sicilian popular songs and music performed by Cantunovu. The evening will be framed by the cavateddi festival and the traditional chickpea soup. The fireworks display at 11pm will conclude the celebrations.
