Closing the eight hundredth anniversary of the presence of Sant’Antonio in Riminithe Ponte dei Miracoli association with the patronage of the Diocese and the Municipality of Rimini organizes the eighteenth edition of the Feast of Sant’Antonio in the place that 800 years ago was the scene of the famous Sermon to the Fishes by the Saint of Miracles.

This year in particular the event doubles with the suggestive title: Francesco & Antonio extraordinary lives of two young people of the 1200s.

It starts tonight, Thursday 20 June, at 9pm in cloister of the Santa Croce Convent of Villa Verucchio with the Sacred Representation: 800 years from the Rule of Saint Francis to the Passage to Rimini of Saint Anthony, from the Stigmata of Saint Francis to the Canticle of the Creatures… their lives intertwined with words, music and singing performed by the choir In Dulci Jubilo with the guitar and lute of Pier Luigi Colonna directed by Sonia Lazzari.

The event will continue on Saturday 22 June at 11.30 am in the place of the miracle of the fish with the floral tribute and the historical story and the fruits of the 800th anniversary at the stele placed on the right quay of the Port of Rimini. At 3pm from Piazzale Boscovich we will set sail for a short boat excursion offered by the motor ship Bella Rimini. At 6.30 pm the event concluded with the Solemn Mass at the Cantieri Navali on the left side of the port, presided over by the Vicar General Don Maurizio Fabbri.

During the festival it will be possible to visit the exhibition: The Saint of Miracles, Anthony in comics, curated by Cartoon Club.

From the 800th anniversary that has just passed, some fruits & projects underway can be seen:

1. Start of restoration work on the Temple of the miracle of the mule in Piazza Tre Martiri.

2. The recovery of the canvas by Angelo Sarzetti (1656 – 1713) “St. Anthony of Padua: preaching to the fish” (circa 1690) and now placed inside the Malatesta Temple.

3. Start of the restoration of the statue of the Saint which belonged to the Oratory built on the site of the miracle of the fish in the port, which was destroyed by the war events of the Second World War.

4. “Eight silver fish” on the docks near the stele of the miracle of the fish, a project by Giuseppe Mazzotti with the auspices of Tonino Guerra.

5. Request for explanatory historical plaques to be placed in the places marked by the presence of the Saint’s two miracles in the city of Rimini.

6. Connection between the Way of St. Anthony (Montepaolo FC) and the Way of St. Francis from Rimini to La Verna, on the places of the first preachings of St. Anthony.
