Countess Ilse is actually a former maid recruited by the secret servicesbut his true identity is safe for now.
Ilse doesn’t trust Mangold and clearly tells him to stay away from Johanna as she is officially engaged. Johanna discovers new clues: A wanted Swiss officer has stolen a military decoder and wants to sell it to the British and will arrive in Davos by train.
The German secret services want to take possession of the decoder and use it to defeat their opponents, even invading neutral Switzerland. Ilse and Johanna implement a plan to get hold of the decoder before the British.
