“Things get done, and they get done well.” The Prefect of Latina, Maurizio Falco, carried out an inspection yesterday morning together with the new Police Commissioner of Latina, Fausto Vinci, the representative of the Ministry, the director of the Technical and Logistics Service of Lazio and Abruzzo, Giovanni d’Innocenzo and the architect Susanna Clemente who physically drew up the project, at the site that will host the new Aprilia Police Station.
His Excellency wanted to underline his satisfaction with the state of the works that the owner, Resi Informatica, actually started even before the official signing of the contract, and which «will allow, with a little optimism, to have the headquarters ready for sure by the end of the year, perhaps even earlier.” Then we will have to wait for the technical times for the various decrees, the assignments, and the whole bureaucratic part. It is presumable that the Aprilia police station will be operational in the first months or the middle of next year. Probably, once the structure is completed and available, the Aprilia Detachment of the Traffic Police could move in first.
The structure located along the ramp to enter the Pontina in front of the Aprilia2 shopping center will in fact host both the state police and the traffic police. The large rooms (over a thousand square meters for offices, accommodation for at least 20 people, garages and other rooms) will in fact allow the rooms to be divided for different needs. «We are performing a miracle – said the prefect, including all the entities involved -. Aprilia had been waiting for the Police Station for more than 10 years. This structure will be functional and adequate for the critical issues that exist in the Aprilia area.” We asked the Police Commissioner of Latina if it is possible to already make some hypotheses about the personnel who will be on duty: «A considerable number certainly adequate for the critical issues of this area. Only in the next few months, after the technical evaluations, will we be able to provide more precise information on the staff. In a complicated area like this, the Police Station will be absolutely fundamental in providing answers to citizens. The sooner we leave, the better it will be for the Aprilian community.” We ask him if there are plans to move or make other changes to the other garrison in the north of the Pontine area: «I want to underline that this garrison will absolutely not replace the one in Cisterna. The objective is to strengthen the presence of law enforcement in the province and in particular here in the area on the border with Rome.” «A synergistic work between Police Headquarters, Prefecture, administration, Ministry, which saw in the field, like fellow Chief Commissioner Susanna Clemente, high professional and technical skills which allowed these important results» finally admitted Dr. D’Innocenzo.
For the moment there are three major concerns: the connection to the city by public transport, and the need for a pedestrian path from the station, perhaps illuminated and, above all, a car park for users. This is where the Municipality must intervene.
