Stop in L’Aquila for the Corriera dei Nonni Readers – Shows

THE EAGLE. A ship full of elderly people and stories to listen to, to immerse yourself in the realities of the towns in the L’Aquila hinterland crossed by the “Corriera dei Nonni Readers”. It is the final act of the project which from February to May was welcomed in six municipalities between the Piana di Navelli and the Subequana Valley, evocative places where history and nature blend in contexts of extraordinary beauty, which suffer from depopulation and shortage of services but in which it is not difficult to find experiences of those who have chosen to return or stay to live there, animating small or very small centers also and above all thanks to culture. The appointment is for Saturday 15 June at 4pm at the Palazzetto dei Nobili, where the grandmothers and grandfathers will bring to the stage the voices, experiences and emotions that, from the readings of the texts used, have emerged over the months. Starting from Navelli, the “Corriera” touched Fagnano Alto, San Benedetto in Perillis, Gagliano Aterno, Tione degli Abruzzi and Fontecchio, offering a reading aloud workshop aimed at the elderly, in an itinerant way to stimulate curiosity, memories and reflections, to open your eyes. Led by Francesca Camilla D’Amico, the grandmothers and grandfathers went over all the stories, all the words which, meeting after meeting, became the schedule for the final return of the course. «It was a very intense and highly vital journey that brought the right attention back to the stories of the Apennines and internal Abruzzo», says the promoter of the project, Paolo Fiorucci, known in Abruzzo and beyond as the Night Bookseller. «The appointment at the Palazzetto dei Nobili, a real celebration for us, will be the moment to mend the link between the inland towns and the capital city through the true and special narratives of those who have lived and live these mountains with love and care. The grandmothers and grandfathers who participated”, adds Fiorucci, “became friends, they remembered important, terrible and moving moments which will be shared with the public and which will then lead to further developments of the project next autumn”. The project was made possible by fundraising and various contributions, not only economic, from local associations and bodies. The municipalities crossed by the Corriera dei Nonni Lettori sponsored the event, together with the Municipality of L’Aquila, the Sirente-Velino Park, the Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo and Tua spa. The project, in which the actress Francesca Camilla D’Amico, the photographer Fabio Massimo Fioravanti, Valeria Pica and the Heritage Art Research Project (Harp) association collaborated, aims to restore to the elderly the function of narrators and custodians of knowledge traditional.
