Lto State Police arrested a man and a woman, aged 22 and 33 respectively, both originally from the province of Brindisi, in flagrante delicto, held responsible for the crimes of resisting a public official, receiving stolen goods and detention for the purpose of dealing drugs.
THE Falcons of the Flying Squad, during the usual anti-drug services, they received reports from some motorists about the presence of one Fiat Punto with a couple and three children on board, two of whom were sitting dangerously in the front seat of the car, which was traveling at breakneck speed state road 100 in the direction of Taranto, also carrying out reckless overtaking maneuvers.
The policemen, with the help of their colleagues Flying Squad, they have set up targeted services on that state road – at the entrance to the capital – awaiting the imminent arrival of the reported car to carry out a check.
When the police stopped, the man behind the wheel of the Punto continued his mad dash, taking the state road 7 towards Grottaglie completely ignoring the repeated invitations to stop from the policemen who were chasing him.
With the subsequent intervention of a police squad from the Grottaglie police station who managed to slow down vehicular traffic, the police managed to reach and stop the Fiat Punto. The check of the car made it possible to find hidden people in the luggage compartment under the spare wheel, a cellophane wrapper with more than inside 100 grams of cocaine, 9 blocks of hashish for a total weight of about one kilogram, well 18 microphones, a smart watch, a dozen sim cards, a drone complete with case and more 2 thousand euros in cash. Once the documents were sent to the competent judicial authority, the man and woman were arrested: the 22-year-old was accompanied to the Taranto prison while the 33-year-old was placed under house arrest.
