Via Vicinale del Colletto alla Rocca di Massa closed for two months due to a landslide: residents protest

Families worried about the situation via Vicinale del Colletto in the hamlet of Rocca a Massa. “For two months we have been experiencing a condition of great discomfort – some residents say – A part of the road, the dirt one, which connects to some homes as well as to a beekeeping business, is closed to vehicular traffic due to a landslide. The houses can be reached by following that route of around 300 metres, which becomes an inconvenience especially for elderly people and for transporting shopping and other material. What if there was a need for an emergency vehicle? That worries us a lot.” The road has existed for years and, according to the residents who denounce the situation, the cause of the landslide “could be the breakage of the Cristallo water pipes, a fountain that has been closed for two months due to the landslide, as the sign that was there informs okay. Furthermore, at the point of the landslide, there is a pool of water that slides over the landslide. However, even in the part of the asphalt road on Via Vicinale del Colletto, there has been a water leak for over eight months. There has been no shortage of reports on this situation and this is demonstrated by the five repairs carried out. Then the situation exploded and now we are at this point.” Discontent spreads not only among residents but also among users of the famous Cristallo water: “Whoever wants to draw from this source must reach the Tecchioni source – they say -. If the landslide in via Vicinale is not made safe, it will not be possible to reopen the Cristallo fountain.” The residents also asked the municipal councilor Daniele Tarantino to find a quick solution with the municipality: “I have listened to these families and the inconvenience they experience is considerable. We know that the municipality of Massa is taking measures and a geologist recently carried out an inspection for further investigations. We ask the municipal administration to speed up the time to restore the road and restore the use of the Cristallo fountain, eliminating the great inconveniences that the population is experiencing in recent months”
