V Edition of Landscapes of the Body at the House of Culture and Music of Velletri – press release by Carlo Tomeo, Milan

Dance among the cultural heritage of the Castelli Romani for the fifth edition of Paesaggi del Corpo – International Contemporary Dance Festival

June 15-16 | Velletri (RM)

The journey through the most beautiful villages of the Castelli Romani continues with the fifth edition of Landscapes of the Body – International Contemporary Dance Festival. On 15 and 16 June the House of Cultures and Music of Velletri will welcome six of the most important dance companies on the contemporary scene: on the 15th they will perform Mandala Dance Company, C.ia Francesca Selva/Concorda Social Enterprise And Company Blue; while on June 16th, in collaboration with the Municipality of Velletri, they will be hosted Taiat Dansa (Es), ARB Dance Company And Déjà Donné.

The day of June 15th will light up at 6.30pm, when it will be staged Balancer Of Mandala Dance Companyan international company managed by Paola Sorressa, extremely active in Italy and abroad. If we all seem to be looking for a balance – whether static or dynamic – this is it performance instead, he presents life as an infinite oscillation between two poles.

Followed by the work Breaths of Beauty produced by Concorda Social Enterprise and signed C.ia Francesca Selva, an author who has seen her performances appear in prestigious Italian and international events and festivals. The performance site specific is based on SH Hinton’s Bildungsroman, The Outsiders, to create a choreography that leaves room for improvisation and adapts and shapes the place of the performative action. The themes addressed on stage are those of the fleeting nature of existence and the moment that makes everyday life extraordinary.

At the end of the evening Company Blue will bring to the stage Ec(g)osystema show created by the choreographer e performer Charlotte Zerbey. A solo inspired by Noam Chomsky’s linguistic theories on the origin and properties of language, which aims to focus on the role of man’s creative and artistic ability in the development of his distinctive abilities. The dancer’s path starts from the child who, while acquiring an individual vocabulary, develops appropriate verbal combinations based on the particular circumstances of the relationship; and then extend to broader historical-cultural phenomena, leading to poetic expressions.

The Festival will resume on June 16th at 6.30pm with Other Carmena work by the Spanish formation of Taiat Dansa and created in collaboration with Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània And Museu Belles Arts Valencia. The latest project by Meritxell Barberá And Inma Garcia re-examines Bizet’s well-known work, telling the tragic and violent fate of Carmen, a free woman, in a society dominated by men and their desires. The dance approach of the two Valencian directors involves a constant alteration of the usual structures and techniques, in search of a distortion and renewal of the dance, which however at the same time remains attentive to the most immediate present, which invariably reverberates in the world of art.

Immediately afterwards it will be time to Invisible cities Of ARB Dance Company: historic association from Campania and a significant presence on the international scene, which on this occasion makes use of the creativity of the dancer and choreographer Roberta De Rosa. Starting from the combinatorial game of Calvin’s collection, in which the cities described depict the disorder and complexity of reality, the debut author invites viewers to see the invisible that escapes the eyes and to find their own personal and imaginary order to this chaos.

It will conclude the weekend Déjà Donné with Jawone performance created by Virginia Spallarossa and directed by Gilles Toutevoix. L’ensemble founded in Prague at the end of the 90s, it boasts an intense activity of creating and circulating shows in tours for the world. Boxing is the initial inspiration for this work, understood as a romantic discipline and extreme synthesis of life as the maximum desire for survival. Like a drama, the ring reveals the contrasts in their rawness and immediacy, concentrates the tensions of life and represents them.

Landscapes of the Body – International Contemporary Dance Festival is created by the cultural association The ETS Art Box with the contribution of MIC Ministry of Culture, of the Municipality of Albano, in collaboration with FONDARC Foundation for Participation in Art and Culture City of Velletri, in collaboration and with the patronage of Municipality of Velletri he was born in Municipality of Rocca di Papa.
