Amap, stop withdrawals from Rosamarina

News (publication date 10 June 2024)

Since yesterday, a very high turbidity value of the water arriving from the reservoir Rosamarina which led to the suspension of withdrawals (around 400 liters per second) due to the impossibility of carrying out the treatment at the Risalaimi water purification plant.

The Regional Department of Water and Waste, manager of the reservoir, which was promptly notified, activated the necessary controls aimed at identifying both the causes of the problem and the resolution methods.

In order to minimize the inefficiencies, withdrawals from the Scanzano reservoir have been reactivated and withdrawals from the Poma reservoir have been increased, which however cannot fully compensate for the lack of contributions from the Rosamarina.

General disruptions to services may therefore occur to users of all municipalities in the eastern metropolitan system (Casteldaccia, Santa Flavia, Bagheria, Villabate, Ficarazzi), to the users of Scillato Canal In the Municipality of Termini Imerese and in the piedmont districts of the City of Palermo:

  • Galletti – Bandita – Favara
  • Bonagia – Falsomiele
  • Rock
  • Boccadifalco Airport
  • Villa Tasca
  • Borgo Nuovo – Rigano Pass
  • Cep

Taking into account the current serious water emergency scenario, however, the use of alternative water sources cannot be maintained for long and therefore, in the coming days, the use of more substantial rationing both in the metropolitan municipalities and in the city of Palermo itself cannot be ruled out.

The Amap technicians are in constant contact with the manager of the Rosamarina reservoir in order to allow a rapid solution to the problem.
