Drought, water rationalized in the Peligna Valley – L’Aquila

THE EAGLE. From 11 June the agricultural lands of the Peligna Valley, which fall into three municipalities in total, will have rationalized water. In particular, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday there will be a suspension of supply in the Marane, Santa Lucia, Badia, Bagnaturo, Capo la Costa, Costa d’Orsa, Pratola Peligna and Roccacasale areas. The provision came from the Aterno-Sagittario Reclamation Consortium, warning that “there may be further requirements on the scheduling of irrigation, in relation to the type of crop”.

A decision that arose from the fact that the Forma Grande canal, which feeds the Sulmona basin, has already had a significant decrease in flow, which is why the Consortium has decided that water will be supplied to the land every other day. The suspension of the service will allow the restoration of the operating level of the compensation tank with a greater and more effective distribution capacity in the supply period limited to Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

“All users are invited to make a more rational use of the water resource, avoiding waste and improper use in the interest of balanced sharing in the use of available water – explains the Consortium – Please remember that tampering with the systems and the use of irrigation network during periods of prohibition are subject to administrative sanctions by the supervisory bodies”.
