Fratelli d’Italia is the leading party in the Arezzo area in 28 of the 36 municipalities of the province, including the capital where it recorded 32.04% of the vote. FdI first strong in the Pistoia area but the Democratic Party in the lead in Pistoia.
In the province of Pistoia, as regards the European elections, Fratelli d’Italia is the first party, with 30.61%, but it is not in the capital municipality, although administered by the centre-right, where the Democratic Party obtained 31.08 %, followed by Giorgia Meloni’s party at 25.70%. The centre-right coalition (Fdi, Lega and Fi) in the province of Pistoia obtained a total of 44.75% (with the Lega at 7.15% and Forza Italia-Noi Moderati-EPP at 6.99%). Fdi is the leading party in 15 of the 20 municipalities in Pistoia and obtained the highest number of votes in Abetone Cutigliano (42.28%) and Chiesina Uzzanese (42.23%). The Democratic Party, however, is the leading party not only in the capital but also in Lamporecchio (35.82%), the former reddest municipality in Italy where the PCI broke the threshold of 75% of the votes in the 1980 elections but which in the previous general elections had registered the victory of the centre-right. Dem first strength also in Larciano (36.09) and Serravalle Pistoiese (30.74%). Compared to the previous European elections in the province of Pistoia, Giorgia Meloni’s party took the place of the League, which in 2019 obtained 35.30% of the votes, while Fdi stopped at 5.95%.
At the European elections, Fratelli d’Italia is the leading party in the Arezzo area in 28 of the 36 municipalities of the province, including the capital where it recorded 32.04% of the votes, reaching a peak of 48.08% in Sestino where there were also votes for the renewal of mayor and city council with only one candidate. Civitella in Valdichiana, Talla, Pratovecchio Stia, Poppi, Lucignano and Marciano della Chiana, considered strongholds of the left, have turned to the right with Fratelli d’Italia as the first party. The Democratic Party is stable, going from 29.66% in the last elections to 29.40% in this round, maintaining its dominance in the municipalities of Terranuova Bracciolini, Montemignaio, Loro Ciuffenna, Chitignano, Montevarchi and Cavriglia (best provincial result with 38.74% of the preferences granted to the Democratic Party). The 5 Star Movement confirms itself as the third most voted with lower percentages than those achieved in 2019. In five years the Five Star Movement went from 12.49% to 7.74%, leaving almost five percentage points on the way. The Salvini Premier League is the third most voted party in 11 municipalities, doing well in Valtiberina with percentages around 9% and reaching 10.14% in Badia Tedalda. A curiosity United States of Europe recorded a percentage of 10.14 in Pratovecchio Stia. Among the candidates for the European elections for the central Italian constituency is the mayor of Arezzo Alessandro Ghinelli who received around two thousand preferences, of which 710 in Arezzo.
