10/06/2024 – Sunday 16 and Monday 17 June Pesaro, Italian capital of culture 2024, hosts Orange Evening, a site-specific project for the Pesaro bikepark and its inhabitants promoted by the Municipality of Pesaro with AMAT, conceived and designed by Mara Oscar Cassiani.

It is a performance in which the concept of choreography expands, mutates and relaxes in a series of bicycle actions performed in different styles: curves, changes in balance, anti-gravity jumps, suspended rotations are just some of the rebellions against gravity that a bike on a track is capable of doing. The performance takes place at dusk at 8.15pm. The light of the setting sun is the filter that will transform the space of the park into a vivid photograph, in which the main subject is the place crossed by the people who live there, in which to live an experience similar to a living tableauxof which the spectator is an integral part.

«Orange Evening it is a photograph of a park and the street scene that inhabits it. The work – says Mara Oscar Cassiani – expands the idea of performance on our everyday life and extends it outside its designated spaces, outside museums and theaters, also expanding the concept of choreography and dance. What he offers us is an almost meditative vision of a late afternoon in the park and its inhabitants, a tribute to the street scene itself, which has managed to create new choreographies and dance forms between concrete and sidewalks. The performers involved are breakers, rockers, bmxers, skaters, explorers of styles born among urban communities, but they are also dancers on concrete and surfers of unexpected places and specific rituals. In Orange Evening, every trick performed, every jump and step are rebellions against gravity, against the physical state as we know it, choreographic gestures beyond the potential of our bodies. The project celebrates the street scene, highlights its ability to reinvent and redefine common spaces, the ability to investigate movement, often in the indifference or obstructionism of society, offering a new perspective on the beauty of extraordinary gestures linked to extra-ordinary spaces.

Orange Evening it is a work that combines the meditative ecstasy of losing oneself in observing a dance with the urban choreographic gesture, as if we suddenly decided to create Nijinskij’s faun, in a hyper-real place like a skatepark and the faun multiplied into a multiple, multiple, complex urban fauna.

The piece hosts: Eka of Strictly Underground from Bologna, historic breaker of the Italian scene, Zinko EAD And Rocking Sample, pioneer of breakdancing in Italy and the East coast; among skaters Luca Crestanihistoric rider on the Marche and international scene, who over the years has expanded the concept of skating beyond mere athleticism towards the search for style, with him Elmehdi Contaki, Cise, Sam GIon, some returning from international tours, but always inhabitants of our parks, representatives of the local crews Candy Coast, Cimi Bimbi; for bmx from the Italian scene Elie Arfaoui with El Gasamiento crewother dancers and breakers appear including the Be Water Crew».

Mara Oscar Cassiani, MOC, is an artist active in Italy and abroad, who works in the field of performance, choreography, digital languages and ritual clubbing. Her research focuses on the creation of a contemporary imagination, in which new grammars and rituals are borrowed from the world of the internet, from subcultures, from avatars and from the imagery of brutal capitalism. The relationship she has with the public, in an expanded dimension – both live and mediated – is explored, through these archetypal techno visual imaginaries, in open space and live streaming performance installations. A flow of images, a melting pot between pop extracts, ritual folklore, digital folklore and commercial language that returns a global snapshot, a “visual fast food” between kitsch, crude rituality and apocalypse.

Active both in Italy and Europe, in 2019 she was awarded the Digital Award of the Roma Europa Festival, Digitalive, for the performance SPIRIT; in 2023 you were awarded the special mention prize of Re: Humanism, Salvatore Iaconesi; in 2016 you participated in the XVI Quadrennial of Art in Rome, “Other times, other myths”.
