Railways: Lombardy, update of the railway timetable

From Sunday 9 June an update to the official timetable of “Railway service in Lombardy”.

The infrastructure manager RFI announced that, starting from 9 June and for the summer months, expansion and maintenance works are planned on various points of the railway network. This involves important changes to the service offered by Trenord on some lines.

Furthermore, from 9 June Trenord will activate new routes to tourist destinations and strengthen the service of the suburban lines S12 and S13 and the evening service of the S3 and S4 connections.

All changes, including interchanges between trains and buses, are already reported in the “Consult railway timetable” section, both on the website and on the Trenord App.

Below is a summary of the main interventions divided by line.

Line: Milan – Lecco – Sondrio – Tirano
From 10 June to 8 September, for infrastructural improvement works and extraordinary maintenance between the stations of Colico and Tirano, the “RE” Milan-Colico-Sondrio-Tirano and “R” Lecco – Sondrio trains travel between Milan – Lecco and Colico ; between Colico and Sondrio/Tirano the service is guaranteed with replacement buses made available by Trenord; some buses directly connect Colico and Sondrio (without intermediate stops), others Colico and Tirano (with only the intermediate stop of Tresenda), others make all the stops scheduled by the train.

Also starting from June 10th, the following new trains are activated:

“RE” 2822, Milan C.le (p.11.20) – Colico (a.12.46), circulates on Saturdays and holidays;
“RE” 2830, Milano C.le (p.15.20) – Colico (a.16.46), circulates on Saturdays and holidays;
“RE” 2844, Milano C.le (p.22.20) Lecco (a.23.01), circulates on public holidays;
“RE” 2819, Colico (p.9.15) – Milano C.le (a.10.40), circulates daily;
“RE” 2823, Colico (p.11.15) – Milano C.le (a.12.55), circulates on Saturdays and holidays.
“RE” 2831, circulates with new numbering 2801, leaves from Colico (p.15.15) – Milano C.le (a.16.40), circulates on Saturdays and holidays.
The upgrades to and from Milan Porta Garibaldi confirmed, already activated from 25 April but with origin/destination Colico, instead of Sondrio

“R” 10316 Lecco (09.15am) – Sondrio (11.10am), runs with new train number 94042 and leaves from Milan P. Garibaldi at 8.22am to Colico (10.23am);
“R” 10318 Lecco (10.15am) – Sondrio (12.10am), runs with new train number 94044 and leaves from Milan P. Garibaldi at 9.22am to Colico (11.23am);
“R” 10333 Sondrio (p.15.47) – Lecco (at.17.45), runs with new train number 94043 which leaves from Colico (p.16.37) and ends the journey in Milan P. Garibaldi at 18.38;
“R” 10335 Sondrio (p.16.47) – Lecco (at.18.45), runs with the new train number 94045 which leaves from Colico (p.17.37) and ends the journey in Milan P. Garibaldi at 19.38.

Line: Milan – Gallarate – Domodossola
From 9 June to 8 September, due to infrastructure upgrading works on the Domodossola – Arona section, the “RE” and “R” Milan Porta Garibaldi/Milano Centrale-Domodossola trains will circulate between the Milan and Arona stations (some with new numbering) ; Trenord has established a replacement bus service between Arona and Domodossola.

It should be noted that the “RE” trains undergo timetable changes between the Sesto Calende and Arona stations, due to concomitant extraordinary maintenance works on the section. In particular, trains heading to Milan are delayed by 4 minutes; trains departing from Milan are delayed by 7 minutes. Furthermore:
• RE 2427 Arona (p.13.36) – Milano Centrale (a.14.35), on weekdays (excluding Saturdays) runs from Sesto Calende (p.13.44) to Milano Centrale; The bus runs from Domodossola to Sesto Calende
• “RE” 2424 Milano Centrale (p.12.25) – Arona (a.13.22), on weekdays (excluding Saturdays) is replaced with buses from Sesto Calende to Arona;
• “R” 10215 Domodossola (p.06.01) – Milan P. Garibaldi (a.08.14), on weekdays (including Saturdays), is replaced with buses from Domodossola to Sesto Calende.

Line: “S7” Milan – Lecco, via Molteno
From 9 June to 8 September due to extraordinary maintenance works and infrastructure upgrading between the Monza and Lecco stations, railway traffic on the line is suspended. Replacement buses circulate between Monza and Lecco, making all the stops scheduled for the “S7” line.

Shuttle buses are also operated to take travelers to the stations of neighboring lines:

Molteno-Oggiono-Lecco: there is a service every 2 hours from 7am to 7pm, from Monday to Saturday;
Besana-Arosio: there is a service every hour from 5.30am to 9.30am and 5.30pm to 9.30pm, from Monday to Saturday;
Triuggio-Seregno: one service runs every hour from 6am to 9pm from Monday to Friday; from 11am to 5pm on Saturdays;
Villasanta-Arcore: one service runs every hour from 6am to 9pm from Monday to Friday; from 9am to 9pm on Saturdays.

Route: Como – Molteno – Lecco
From 9 June to 8 September, extraordinary maintenance works are planned between the Albate and Molteno stations. All trips on the Como-Lecco line are replaced with buses between Molteno and Como Camerlata.
Between Molteno and Lecco travelers can use the replacement buses provided for the S7 line; between Como Camerlata and Como San Giovanni the trains of the S11 line.

Line: Pavia – Mortara – Vercelli
From 9 June to 8 September, due to extraordinary maintenance works between the Cava Carbonara and Mortara stations, the entire service on the line is guaranteed by a replacement bus service.

Line: Pavia – Torreberetti – Alessandria
From 28 July to 8 September, railway traffic is interrupted between the stations of Pavia and Cava Carbonara due to extraordinary maintenance works. Replacement buses are activated between Pavia and Cava Carbonara; Trains will run between Cava Carbonara and Alessandria, with a remodulation of the offer.

Line: Milan – Treviglio – Cremona
From 9 to 30 June, due to extraordinary maintenance works between the Treviglio and Olmeneta stations, service on the entire line is suspended. Replacement buses are activated between Cremona and Treviglio.

Line: Brescia – Cremona
From 4 to 25 August, for extraordinary maintenance works between the San Zeno and Olmeneta stations, the entire offer is guaranteed by a replacement bus service.

Line: “S9” Albairate – Milan – Saronno
From 23 June to 25 August, due to infrastructure upgrading works for the construction of the new “Milano Porta Romana” stop, train circulation is subject to variations.
Trains travel regularly between Saronno and Milan Lambrate and between Albairate and Milan S. Cristoforo, they are not carried out between Milan Lambrate and Milan San Cristoforo. Between Albairate and Milan S. Cristoforo trains run every 30′ / 60′ (depending on the time slot) on weekdays excluding Saturdays and hourly on Saturdays and holidays.
From Milan San Cristoforo travelers can reach Milan P. Genoa with trains on the Milan-Mortara-Alessandria line. The Milano P. Genova and Milano Lambrate stations are connected by the metropolitan service, green line M2, which can be used with STIBM integrated travel tickets.

Line: Milan Porta Genova – Mortara – Alessandria
From 23 June to 25 August, coinciding with the infrastructural upgrading works for the construction of the new “Milano Porta Romana” stop, the timetable of some trips undergoes slight changes, to guarantee coincidence with the trips of the S9 line and facilitate the connection between Milan San Cristoforo and Milan Porta Genova.

Lines: Gallarate – Luino and “S30” Bellinzona/Cadenazzo-Luino-Gallarate
• From 10 June to 26 July, on weekdays (excluding Saturdays), the “S30” train 25361 is replaced by the new train 25351 which will carry out an alternative route via Sesto Calende – Ispra (from Laveno M. to Gallarate) with an extraordinary stop in Vergiate. A replacement bus 3561A is planned from Laveno M. to Gallarate. It should be noted that customers who use trains with an alternative route, with higher mileage, can use travel tickets valid for the original journey between the Laveno Mombello and Besnate routes, without any fare increase for all types of tickets and railway passes.
• From 4 August to 1 September, due to extraordinary maintenance works in the Besozzo station, the trains between Gallarate and Luino and “S30” Bellinzona/Cadenazzo-Luino-Gallarate are replaced with buses between Laveno M. and Gallarate. There will be a remodulation of the offer on the Laveno – Cadenazzo section, to guarantee connections to/from Milan.

Line: “S12” Melegnano – Milan – Cormano-Cusano Milanino
Following the release by the infrastructure manager FERROVIENORD of the third track between Milan Affori and Cormano-Cusano Milanino, from 9 June the route of the S12 line is extended to the Cormano-Cusano Milanino station.
The offer on the line is enhanced: from Monday to Friday 20 daily trips – 10 in each direction – will connect Melegnano and Cormano-Cusano Milanino. Two trips – one in each direction – cover the Cormano Cusano Milanino-Milano Rogoredo route.

Line: “S13” Pavia – Milan – Garbagnate Milanese
From 9 June, from Monday to Friday, 48 daily trips on the “S13” line in the time slot between 7.30 and 19.30 are extended from/to Garbagnate Milanese.

Line: “RE80” Milan – Chiasso/Locarno
From 9 June, the new “RE” train 25537 Locarno (p.20.22) – Chiasso (a.21.26/p.21.31) – Milano Centrale (a.22.17) is activated with daily frequency.

Additionally, the following changes to the trains are planned:

“RE” 25538 Milano Centrale (p.22:43) – Chiasso (a.23:29/p.23:34) – Locarno (a.00:38), circulates daily;
“RE” 25540 Como SG (p.23:23) – Chiasso (a.23:29/p.23:34) – Locarno (a.00:38), will no longer be operated.

Line: Milan – Piacenza, via Lodi
From 9 June, the new “R” train 10893 from Mi Greco Pirelli (p.17:10) to Piacenza (a.18:23) has been activated and runs on weekdays (from Monday to Friday). Furthermore, the “R” train 10899 from Milano Certosa (p.17:51) to Piacenza (a.19:02) is no longer operated.

Line: Novi Ligure/Tortona – Voghera
From 9 June, the following trains are activated:

“RE” 2399 Voghera (p.06:32) – Novi Ligure (a.07:08), circulates on weekdays, including Saturdays;
“RE” 2398 Novi Ligure (p.18:15) – Voghera (a.18:48), circulates on weekdays, excluding Saturdays.
Furthermore, the “RE” train 2384 leaves from Arquata S. (p.19:40) and also stops at: Serravalle S. (p.19:46), Novi L. (p.19:53), Pozzolo F. (p.20:01) with arrival at Milano Centrale (at.21:30). The remaining stops and timetables remain unchanged.

Line: Milan – Bozzolo – Mantua
From 9 June, trains from Milano Centrale to Bozzolo, with the exception of trains RE 2177 (Milano C.le p.18:20 – Bozzolo a.19:55) and RE 2179 (Milano C.le p.19: 15 – Bozzolo at 8.50pm) postpone the arrival time at the destination by 4 minutes; instead, trains from Bozzolo leave 2 minutes earlier, with the exception of the RE 2186 train (Bozzolo p.21:05-Milano Centrale a.22:40). It should be noted that the interchange with the replacement bus service established by Trenord on the Mantua – Bozzolo route is guaranteed.

Line: “S4” Camnago L. – Milan Cadorna
From 9 June, the evening service is enhanced with the activation of the following trains which will run daily:

“S4” 701 Milano Cadorna (p.00:23) – Camnago L. (a.01:05);
“S4” 792 Camnago L. (p.23:25) – Milano Cadorna (a.00:07).
Finally, the 792A Camnago L. bus (p.23:35) – Milano Cadorna (a.00:47) is no longer operated.

Line: “S3” Saronno – Milan Cadorna
From 9 June, the evening service is enhanced with the activation of the following trains which will run daily:

“S3” 801 Milano Cadorna (p.00:02) – Saronno (a.00:37);
“S3” 803 Milano Cadorna (p.00:32) – Saronno (a.01:07);
“S3” 892 Saronno (p.23:53) – Milano Cadorna (a.00:28);
“S3” 802 Saronno (p.00:23) – Milan Cadorna (a.00:58).

Furthermore, the following buses are no longer operated:

bus 801A Milan Cadorna (p.00:02) – Saronno (a.00:49);
bus 892A Saronno (p.11.53pm) – Milan Cadorna (at.00.40am).
