SITUATION 8 AM. Our peninsula is drastically divided between North and South. While humid and unstable southwestern currents pass through the northern regions, harbingers of showers and thunderstorms, even of strong intensity, in the southern regions we are witnessing the rise of warm currents from North Africa which are causing a surge temperatures, up to the middle Adriatic side.
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS AND FLOODING IN LOMBARDY DURING THE NIGHT. A structured storm line passed through Lombardy during the night moving from west to east, distributing strong phenomena including cloudbursts and accompanied by hail. The Brescia area was particularly affected, where there was flooding and damage which forced the Fire Brigade to carry out numerous interventions in the Franciacorta, Sebino and West Brescia areas, as well as in Valtrompia. The storm, which began around 8pm on Sunday, transformed some roads into rivers and caused some streams to overflow. In Valtrompia a bridge was closed and landslides occurred which forced the closure of some roads. In Gussago a restaurant was overwhelmed by the river of water and mud. The situation improved during the night, with the retreat of the front towards the east. Strong storms also hit the Milan area during the night.

STRONG THUNDERSTORMS IN VENETO. Subsequently the front moved to Veneto, where during the night it caused even violent thunderstorms, with downpours, local hailstorms and gusts of wind. In the Vicenza area, rainfall accumulations exceeded 50mm, while in the Veronese area peaks of 100mm were recorded. The phenomena are now easing and have ended in central-western Veneto, while the last ones linger on the border with Friuli VG.
STORMY DAWN IN FRIULI VG. The front acts in the early hours of the day on Friuli VG with thunderstorms that are concentrating on the Udine area, where in a short time the rainfall accumulations have exceeded 50mm. The thunderstorms extend up to the border with Slovenia.
SOME SHOWERS ON THE TYRRHENIAN POWER PLANTS. The flow of southwestern currents impacts the medium-high Tyrrhenian side where there were some showers and local thunderstorms during the night. Tuscany has been especially affected, although at dawn today the phenomena are now over.
GARBINO AND WARM ON THE ADRIATIC. The south-westerly winds give rise to Garbino gusts on the Adriatic side, in particular between Marche and Abruzzo, where at dawn temperatures of 28°C are already reported on the Fermo area, 27°C on the Chietino area.
VERY HOT IN THE SOUTH. The African anticyclone is causing rather intense heat conditions in the South, where in some cases temperatures have not dropped below 26°C as happened in Puglia in the Bari area and where at 8 am the column already reads 30°C. At the same time, values of 29°C were recorded in the Catania and Cosentino areas.
WEATHER FOR THE NEXT HOURS. To the North thunderstorms easing in the morning in Friuli VG, some rain in the Alps, especially bordering them, and in Liguria on the Levant, elsewhere more clear spells. Few variations during the day, but during the afternoon thunderstorms intensified again in Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli VG, some showers or thunderstorms also in Piedmont, drier in Emilia Romagna. To the Center irregular accumulations in the Tyrrhenian regions with some light rain in Tuscany, upper Lazio and Umbria, easing in the evening. Clear spells prevailing on the Adriatic side, except for local cloud cover in the inland areas and the upper Marche.
