It ended XXI edition of the Regions Tournamentthe most important youth event organized by the Italian Baseball Softball FederationThat from 6 to 9 June involved 7 localities in Piedmont: the companies of Avigliana, Castellamonte, Fossano, The Lodge, Pinerolo, Seventh Turin And Turin have welcomed into their facilities almost 700 athletes between 11 and 17 years oldthanks to the work of the many volunteers who allowed the intense tournament to take place, which saw girls and boys involved in over 110 competitions in three days.

The Turin baseball stadium will be closed on Sunday 9 Junein whose plant the finals of the five competing categories were played, with the winning teams entering the Europe/Middle East/Africa zone phases of the Little League International of baseball and softball, an organization that has over 2 and a half million young and very young players in total the world.

At the end of hard-fought finals, where there was no shortage of excellent plays that thrilled an attentive and involved audience who filled the stands of the ‘Paschetto’, Emilia Romagna once again won the general ranking of the competition, drawn up with the sum of all placings in the different categories, compared to the opposing regions, with a total of 46 points, followed by Veneto (35) and Lombardy (32) .

The general ranking sees Veneto finish in third place

Specifically, the Emilia-Romagna expedition brought home three titles out of five of those up for grabs, winning the Little League Baseball and Softball categories and also winning the title in Junior League Baseball. Lombardy instead won first place in the Junior League Softball category, while iVeneto wins in the main category, i.e. the Senior League Baseball. In fact, with a great comeback the Venetian athletes won the final against Emilia Romagna 3-2 and confirmed themselves as champions of the senior category. All the boys demonstrated remarkable technical and human skills and deserved to win. A great union of intent on the part of the staff led by Gianfranco Vincocomposed of Kay Chiaregato and Lucas Montalbettiwithout forgetting the work carried out by the Veneto academy coordinated by Stefano Burato.

Two individual prizes for the Venetians

At an individual level, two Venetian athletes were awarded. In the Junior League Baseball Riccardo Dalla Nora was awarded as best pitcher. In the Senior League Baseball Instead Thomas Pitteri was awarded as MVP of the final that the Venetians won against Emilia Romagna.

The FIBS Vice President was present at the awards ceremony Roberta Soldithe Federal Councillors Marco Mannucci And Barbara Zuellithe coaches of the national baseball and softball teams Gianguido Poma, Stefano Burato And Maristella Perizzolo.

As regards special awards, the FIBS Referees Commission awarded two ‘fair-play’ awards, in baseball to Pugliain softball at Marche.
