The year of Pesaro as Italian capital of culture 2024 combines well with an edition of the International New Cinema Exhibition with a varied and multifaceted character that winks at the most diverse tastes. The main dish is the seventh art of our house and the foreign component remains in the background, but that’s it, for once xenophilia ends up in the attic and this too is a form of personality.
We were talking about the heterogeneity of the billboard. We start next Friday on a light note. The protagonists are Ficarra and Picone, whose film Born tired will be screened at 3pm at the Experimental Theatre, officially opening the festival directed by Pedro Armocida. The famous comic duo, protagonists of other titles in the program (The first Christmas, Let’s go to that country, Summer time, Even if it’s love you can’t see, Il 7 e l’8 and the recent Santocielo) will participate in a table on Sunday round on the theme of «Laughing seriously», the subject of a volume published by Marsilio. And, still in the editorial field, the book Carlo Delle Piane will be presented. The Man I Loved written by the widow Anna Crispino, whom the actor married late in life.
2024 is a season of anniversaries and marks the twentieth anniversary of one of the most intensely dramatic Italian films of the beginning of the millennium. Don’t Move will be shown again on Friday at 9.30pm, introduced by director Sergio Castellitto (photo) who also starred, with Penélope Cruz and Claudia Gerini, in this transposition of his wife Margaret Mazzantini’s novel. Nostalgia goes on display on Wednesday 19th in the square, with the special screening of Forrest Gump. On the 20th a new theme will be introduced with a matinee on «The golden age of Italian animation» which goes hand in hand with the evening event: Mary and the Midnight Spirit which the author Enzo D’Alò will talk about.
On Saturday 22nd, the closing day, the director Luca Guadagnino, to whom the monograph Spectri del Desire published by Marsilio is dedicated, will be a guest. At 9.30 pm the awards ceremony will precede the final act with Challengers, introduced by Guadagnino who will greet the public.
