BARI – A runoff is looming between Vito Leccese (candidate of the Democratic Party and the centre-left civics) e Fabio Romito (centre-right). This is what the first exit polls for the municipal elections say Bari. At the close of the polls there was a substantial agreement between the findings of Rai and La7, according to which the candidates of the Democratic Party and the centre-right were in the lead. No one would have exceeded the 50% of votes that guarantees passage to the first round.

The definitive official turnout (at 11pm yesterday 10 June) in Bari city for the municipal elections it was 58.73% (60.07% for the European elections).

According to the Opinio-Rai exit poll, in Bari Leccese it would be between 42 and 46%, Romito between 31 and 35%, Michele Laforgia (candidate of M5s and Si) between 20 and 24%.

Based on the first Swg-La7 exit poll, Vito Leccese would be between 43.5 and 47.5%, Romito between 30.5 and 34.5%, Laforgia between 19 and 23%. For the according to exit polls there would be a slight increase in support for the Democratic Party candidate: Leccese would be between 44 and 48%, Romito between 30 and 34% while Laforgia between 19 and 23%.

«The exit polls confirm the positive feelings of these weeks, but we are waiting to see the real data after the scrutiny. Regardless of the result, we will work to govern the city with all the souls of the center-left.” The centre-left mayoral candidate Vito Leccese (Pd, Verdi and others) said this while commenting on the data from the first RAI exit poll on the Bari municipal elections according to which a run-off between him and the centre-right candidate, Fabio Romito, is likely.

«We are waiting for the real data, but the exits confirm the air we breathed in the polling stations. We have achieved the objective of offering the city an alternative government proposal. And now we move forward with greater conviction.” This is how Fabio Romito commented on the exit polls which predict a run-off in Bari between him and the centre-left candidate led by the PD, Vito Leccese.
