The Carabinieri checks of the Rome Airport Station at the “Leonardo Da Vinci” airport continue unabated.

The checks were concentrated at the terminal exits and inside the airport, at the commercial activities. The Carabinieri reported 11 people for attempted theft and one for violation of the DACUR., and sanctioned 8 drivers – seven NCC drivers and a taxi driver – caught procuring customers in prohibited areas.

Specifically, the Carabinieri of the Fiumicino Airport Station, in separate activities, reported 11 people, including Italian citizens and foreigners, who attempted to overcome the cash registers duty free located inside the airport, without paying, while they were waiting for their respective flights.

The travelers were noticed by the security staff who immediately alerted the Carabinieri, who recovered all the stolen goods, cosmetics, perfumes and tobacco products worth around 4,500 euros.

All of them were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Civitavecchia for the crime of attempted theft.

As part of the checks aimed at combating the abusive exercise of non-scheduled public transport, the Carabinieri reported a man who, despite already being banned from accessing urban areas for 8 months, stopped at the airport without justified reason , and sanctioned 7 NCC drivers and a taxi driver caught while they were illegally procuring customers among passengers in transit at the exit of Terminal 1, therefore outside the stalls, without having the right to do so. High fines for a total amount of approximately 16,500 euros.

From further checks, 4 of the sanctioned drivers were also found not to have the documentation certifying the request for the professional service, for this reason all four were notified of the removal order for 48 hours and a further fine of 100 euros each.
