After last year’s success, Messina confirms itself as a stage of the 2024 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour – Futures, an international beach volleyball event scheduled from 20 to 23 June in Piazza Duomo, organized by the CEV (Confédération Européenne de Volleyball) and Volleyball World .
Messina, a unique stage in Sicily and one of only three in Italy, has been chosen by the local promoter Team Volley Messina, who will carry it out in concert with the Municipality of Messina as co-organiser, Mediterranea Eventi, Triptop, the Sicily Regional Committee of FIPAV and the Fipav Territorial Committee of Messina.
The first exciting edition on the banks of the Strait will therefore see the appointment renewed for 2024 with an event that will provide a lot of entertainment, as happened in the last edition, thanks also to the choice of location, Piazza Duomo, which for 4 days will be transformed into a large sand arena and will offer a scenario that is as unusual as it is fascinating and of great impact.
56 couples at the starting line: 28 male and 28 female, divided into the 12 couples registered in the main draw and 16 included in the qualifying draw, teams representing 22 nations and 5 continents, from Japan to Argentina, through Australia, Canada and the United States. Several Italian teams were competing, such as the “Azzurra” Bianchin – Scampoli couple who won the tournament last year, beating the duo of Orsi Toth R. and Bianchi in the final, who were also in Messina for the second time and fresh from medals silver at the Battipaglia Future held a few weeks ago. Even in the men’s field we find many Italian couples, such as Dal Corso-Viscovich, who finished third in the last edition and won a silver medal in Battipaglia. With them also the Ranghieri-Carambula couple, who lead the ranking and who, after having performed on very high level stages, will play on the sand of Piazza Duomo.
