In Lombardy, an orange alert has been issued until midnight because heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible: the Lambro and Seveso rivers are under observation.
Today, Sunday 9 June, scattered showers and thunderstorms are arriving in Lombardy. The civil protection issued this announcement an orange alert till midnight. In detail, the new wave of bad weather will initially affect the western sectors. Then during the afternoon and evening it will move across the central plain and intensify. Finally in the night between today and Monday the phenomena will be attenuated and in transit towards the East. From tomorrow Monday 10 June in the Region the atmospheric weather will be characterized by “a weakly unstable flow from West-Southwest with probable showers or local thunderstorms on the reliefs in the central hours, extending over the plains in the evening and in the Night”.
Once again the rivers will be under observation Lambro and the Seveso protagonists of floods in previous waves of bad weather. From the Lombardy Region they let it be known that “the intense rainfall associated with the storm phenomenon can cause possible local hydrogeological disruptions and local critical issues on the hydraulic network and/or on the urban drainage networks (with particular attention to metropolitan areas)”. And again: “Even in the absence of precipitation, occasional landslide phenomena can occur, even rapid ones, linked to particularly fragile hydrogeological conditions, due to the saturation of the soil due to precipitation which occurred in the previous weeks. These scenarios can have generally localized effects”.
The functional risk monitoring center of the Lombardy Region will be active for the entire duration of the alert: “monitoring of the evolution of meteorological events and effects on the ground will be carried out, in support of the territorial Presidia and local authorities”.
