The Risk Monitoring Functional Center of the Lombardy region issued today, June 9, 2024a new weather alert code orange for storm risk and yellow for hydrogeological risk. “The collapse of the anticyclonic promontory on the Mediterranean allows the transit of a cooler depression core over central-northern Italy, with an increase in instability during today, Sunday 09/06,” we read in the bulletin. “From the central hours of the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the Region, with a greater probability of temporal strong from mid afternoon, initially affecting the western sectors and transiting from South to North, during the afternoon and evening moving across the central plain and intensifying. In the night between today and Monday the phenomena will be attenuating and moving towards the East. In the Prealpine and Alpine areas ventilation reinforcements at altitudes above 700-800 meters“.
The removal of the low depression will leave the Region during the day Tomorrow, Monday 10 June,”a weakly unstable flow from West-Southwest which will intensify the diurnal cycle: probable showers or local thunderstorms on the mountains in the central hours, extending to the plains in the evening and at night“.
