Acireale / Inaugurated in Santa Tecla, in the Cocole area, the solarium also accessible to disabled people

The municipal solarium set up in the building was inaugurated yesterday hamlet of Santa Teclain the “Cocole” area, designed to allow access also to people with disabilities.
This was announced in a press release from the spokesperson of the mayor of Acireale.

“We are in a position to be punctual with the summer season – said Mayor Barbagallo – both for this solarium, which effectively inaugurates the bathing season, and for those that will be set up in the other seaside hamlets. We had made a commitment which was respected, but we are working to create another solarium accessible to disabled people in Pozzillo.

We have presented all the documentation, we have obtained the opinions from the relevant bodies, next week we will have the authorization from State property and together with an association that has offered to contribute, we will have, albeit with a minimal delay due to the variant, a second solarium accessible to all, which will remain so over the years. For a few years the hamlet of Pozzillo did not have a solarium and we are putting all the effort possible into creating a dignified access area to the sea to serve all bathers”.

The Santa Tecla solarium now has more convenient access

The mayor Roberto Barbagallo, the councilor for Social Policies and the Sea Valentina Pulvirenti and the councilor for Public Works Salvo Licciardello intervened on site. Among those present also the councilor for Productive Activities Laura Toscano, the president of the fifth council commission Lorenzo Leotta, the city councilor Paolo Monaco. Then the Guarantor of the rights of people with disabilities Sebastiana Valvo and the president of the Council of people with disabilities Martino Florio. And also Mario Pappalardo for the Ports and State Property Office.

“This year we have made some small changes, taking into account the critical issues that have emerged in recent seasons. The solarium is slightly lower so that the slip leading to the sea allows easier access – he explained the councilor for Social Policies and the Sea Valentina Pulvirenti. The solarium is accessible to all and we know that it is frequented by swimmers from all over the province. It is already open and equipped with a shower, lifeguards and all the necessary equipment.”

“We are happy to have arrived on time for the summer season with our solariums along the entire Acisco coast. The one in Santa Tecla in particular is accessible for people with disabilities and we are particularly keen on it – he commented the councilor for Public Works Salvo Licciardello. Our attention continues to ensure that our seafront is usable in the best possible way.”

“After so many years, we are finally able to open the solarium at times suited to the needs of the summer season. A symptom that work and planning pay off”, declared the president of the fifth commission Lorenzo Leotta.
