In Avellino we vote on 8 and 9 June; on the first day the turnout was 24.17%. There are seven mayoral candidates.

The data relating to the turnout for the municipal elections in Avellino, which are taking place in conjunction with the European elections, have been released; on the first day 24.17% of eligible voters voted; in the Campania municipality there will also be voting tomorrow, 9 June (from 7am to 11pm). In the previous electoral round, that of 2019, voting was held for only one day, May 26th. Taking into account the progressive readings and not the time, the turnout in the previous elections was 17.30% (data recorded at 12pm on Sunday 26 May); the total turnout, recorded at 11pm, was 71.7% (equal to 33,381 voters out of a total of 46,557 eligible voters)

In the last elections Gianluca Festa was elected, currently under house arrest as part of an investigation into municipal procurement; the now former mayor had submitted his resignation last March 26, which became effective on April 16, and at the same time the Prefect had appointed a commissioner; on April 18 Festa was arrested. The previous administration had also ended with a commissionership, but after just four months: Vincenzo Ciampi had been in office from July to November 2018; the elections were held on 10 June 2018, the turnout at 11pm was 71.2 of those entitled to vote.

Since Avellino has a population greater than 15 thousand inhabitants, if none of the candidates obtain an absolute majority in the first round there will be a run-off. There are seven mayoral candidates:
