Extraordinary success for Valentin Fistican, born in 2010, gold medal in the -49 kg category at the Olimpic Dream Cup in Taekwondo.
A team competition where each region of Italy, after selecting the best athletes in their respective categories, compete on the tatami to the sound of taekwondo. And so 5 athletes from Asd Taekwondo Ravenna have been selected to be part of the Emilia Romagna regional team: Sara Balduzzi -44 kg junior; Ascanio Finetto -59 kg junior; Vincenzo Minardo -63 kg junior; Valentin Fistican -49 kg cadet; Domenico Covelli -41 kg cadet.
Monday 3 June, at the Foro Italico in Rome, “Valentin Fistican made us dream and gave us strong emotions from the first meeting – underlined his Maestro Vincenzo Sciuto -. Match won by 2 rounds to 0, but at the end of which the athlete was found to have a compound fracture of the thumb. The doctors’ advice was to stop the race, but Valentin didn’t think about it at all. He faced the second match and then the third, the fourth and finally the final, with great strength and determination, gritting his teeth but looking straight at the point of arrival, the most coveted medal, the one that represented for him a revenge, (only 2 months ago at the Italian Championships he saw the gold medal slip away by just 1 point). A true Champion!”

It was an extraordinary experience for everyone, even for Coach Vincenzo Sciuto, appointed Technical Manager of the Emilia Romagna cadet team only last year and who has already distinguished himself by having given a magnificent gold medal to our Region.
