Ht Bologna, finally the A1. The tale of the Amorosini family

Big coup by the Amorosini family. The Hockey Team Bologna puts on a show in the Pistoia concentration and wins promotion to the A1 women’s field hockey championship. The top, in this context, is the elite tournament, but Bologna, after the glories of the nineties, returns to the top of the specialty thanks to the enthusiasm and passion of the Due Torri hockey family, the Amorosini.

In Pistoia the team achieved a double success: 2-0 against Cus Cagliari and 6-1 against Hc Genova. Result: promotion to A1 thanks to a group where the stars mix with the young people who, in past years, have won titles in the baby categories.

The Hockey Team Bologna team is made up of Denissa Stamati, Agustina Cano, Ilaria Amorosini (captain), Rachele Isler, Sofia Tamburini, Rebecca Soncini, Ana Reyes, Ida Panieri, Stefania Spagnulo, Rebecca Villa, Vernice Ciaurro, Stefania Iannuzzi, Charlotte Van Der Meijs. In the same group, justified absent in the last concentration, Maria Stella Vinci, Liliana Paronuzzi and Elisa Panieri (Ida’s twin).

The team’s coaches are Facundo Franco and Franco Bascope. President of the team, as well as player, is Stefania Spagnulo, who is also the wife of Pietro Amorosini, the soul of the Hockey Team.

The reference player is Ana Reyes who, in the last concentration, was awarded as the best player of the finals.

The brains of the group? Ilaria Amorosini (daughter of Pietro and Stefania) who, in the free time that the team gives her, is a point of reference at the Barca sports centre, which is the club’s headquarters, as well as an international referee (of field hockey) who, after having direct matches at the World and European Championships, could lead directly to the Olympic Games.

Other particular signs? “We are particularly satisfied – says Pietro Amorosini, who in hockey is president, custodian, warehouse workers, driver and factotum – because Bologna hasn’t reached this high level since the 1990s. We are working with enthusiasm to encourage young players to join the team generations and for the team to conclude its journey into the elite”.

There were more than two hundred people at the finals, many of whom came from nearby Bologna. But the saga of the Amorosini family is not over yet. Because the second son of the family, Mattia, born in 1999, has just been promoted, with his club, Schc, to the Dutch Topcompetie, which would then be the maximum expression of the orange championship, one of the best championships at European level.

And Mattia, needless to say, who when time allows him, also lends a hand to the family team, the Hockey Team Bologna, is the first Italian of all time to reach this exceptional level. Someone with such talent would deserve the satisfaction of taking part in the Olympic Games. That doesn’t mean that, with a bit of luck, he won’t succeed.
