The occasion is undoubtedly the inauguration, on Saturday 15 June at 7.15 pm, of the statue of Thyrus – 5 meters high including the base, approximately 10 tons of steel, 441 plates donated by Ast – which will be placed in the Filipponi roundabout, between the Nera river and the entrance to the Caos museum complex. But “The Days of the Dragon” they want to be much more.
«They were born with the idea of promoting this city symbol – explains the sculptor Marco Diamanti president ofAssociation cultural Thyruswhich together with Dreamlike And Jacopo Cardinali created the sculpture – and to make it an annual event, a real local holiday.”
It is precisely for this reason that the zero edition was conceived as an interaction between the various levels of the Terni community, not only the cultural one, but also the more popular one. So conferences, sport, conviviality, entertainment, art And Street art.
«What interested me was not to make it something for a limited circle of people, but to spread it to the whole city. In fact we involved all the sports associations which show the symbol of the dragon in their coat of arms then, since Terni does not have its own historical procession, we called the ancient municipalities – Rock Saint Zeno, Torreorsina, Collescipoli – with their historical processions by creating our own with the addition of historical Banderari group who will act as coordinator and will also be there Cesi band which is the now official band of Terni.”
As for the conferences, June 12th at 4.15 pm in cloister of the church of San Pietro a meeting entitled “The origins of Thyrus between myth, history and imagination” organized by the municipal library.

On June 14th another day of studies dedicated to the figure of the dragon and the relationship of happy coexistence between the city, the waters and contemporary sculpture: “To Make a Dragon”. The artistic program is rich.
«Davide Pompili, who is the artist who is practically decorating the entire Narni airport, will donate one of his works to Bus Italia ironically inspired by the dragon of Terni. Another artist from the Thyrus association will create an installation on the Carrara bridge, a series of mirrors that interact with the reflections of the river water. Leonardo Martellucci will be the protagonist of a dance performance mixed with action painting.”
There will also be interventions by painters, sculptors, live music and moments dedicated to children with make-up, poetry and creative writing. In short, a «vertical manifestation» with many events to celebrate the symbol of the city. «This is a work desired by the people, for the realization of which a union was established vast city networkparticipated over forty sponsors, therefore a sculpture of the city donated to itself which for me is also a sort of social experiment: I want to see how much this monument takes root in the imagination of our community. I hope it can become one of the symbols of Terni».
