The former camper area in Piazza d’Armi ready for restyling – Turin News

This is the objective of “Fuori” project, initiated by the City of Turin which identified Piazza d’Armi among the first areas on which to intervene, together with that of Piazza Crispi. By carrying out in-depth research that describes how public space has changed and the uses made of it, “Fuori” will involve the citizens of the neighborhoods in the process of transformation of the two squares.

«This is an important redevelopment project which will affect the former camper area of ​​the square – explained the coordinator of Public Works of the 2nd District Alessandro Nucera –. A work that will be followed and developed by the municipality’s in-house company, Infra.To.”

Plan of recovery of the area overlooking Corso Monte Lugo, now in a complete state of abandonment, will start “from a solid base”, underlined the president of Due Luca Rolandi. He will take into account the laboratory of ideas carried out by the Architecture Foundation with citizens. A redevelopment study to bring the old camper area back to life by returning it to the neighborhood as a green area, financed a year and a half ago by the district for 10 thousand euros.

“Fuori”, supported by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation as part of the second edition of the Next Generation We call, will intervene on the former camper area, creating spaces that meet the needs of those who live in the area and the neighborhood. In recent weeks, «a couple of meetings have already taken place with Infra.To and the Architecture Foundation», said coordinator Nucera assuming a short-term start of the redevelopment works. The new area of ​​Piazza d’Armi “recovered as a park” will also be an inclusive space for initiatives that will involve citizens.
