This afternoon, Saturday 8 June, at 4.00 pm on Rai 1, the Saturday summer cycle of “A Sua Immagine”, Rai Cultura’s religious in-depth program, begins with an episode dedicated to the discovery of Sicily. Lorena Bianchetti will lead the audience through Scicli and Modica, two cities located on the slopes of the Iblei Mountains, famous for their eighteenth-century baroque and a world heritage site protected by UNESCO.

The episode

The episode will explore the religious, cultural, artistic, natural and popular traditions of the area. Among the manifestations of popular faith it stands out the festival of the Living Man of Scicli, which inspired artists such as Vinicio Capossela. The iconic places of the fiction “Inspector Montalbano”, filmed in these fascinating locations, will also be visited.

The beauty of the natural landscape, the sea and the canyons, along with culinary delights such as Modica chocolate, they will represent a focal point of the episode, showing the uniqueness and cultural richness of Sicily.

At the same time, the new summer cycle of “The Reasons for Hope”, hosted by Don Marco Pozza, will take the public to Paraguay, in the heart of South America, on the borders with Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia. The trip will explore the Reductions, an evangelizing experience immortalized in the film “Mission.” These 30 small cities, including seven in Paraguay, represented an innovative experiment in development cooperation in the 17th century.

The first episode will be set in the capital Asunción, crossed by the Paraguay River, and will visit significant places such as the Palacio de los López, the Museo del Barro and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption. This trip will offer a unique perspective on the history and culture of Paraguay, highlighting the country’s religious and cultural roots.
