Since yesterday in Pavia. The fifth edition of the Campus Aquae Swim Cup is underway

From yesterday until tomorrow, the fifth edition of the Campus Aquae Swim Cup will take place in Pavia. The meeting, which grows in importance and numbers every year (50 teams participating in three categories: Absolute, Beginners A and Beginners B), is the first step of a summer season which, making a Roman stop for the Sette Colli, will reach the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where swimming will be the protagonist starting from 27 July. Taking center stage are the many protagonists in the pool: Sara Curtis, a very young Italian record holder in the 50m freestyle, Alisia Tettamanzi, specialized in cross-country freestyle in the pool and in open water, Marco Orsi, a world bronze medalist and all-round athlete, Alessandro Calvi, who is now an important element in the structure of Campus Aquae, and the Under 23s Andrea Camozzi and Christian Mantegazza. Curtis is considered by many to be Federica Pellegrini’s possible heir. “Being approached by Pellegrini is a great honor, but it is an exaggeration. She is still at a level very far from mine and I am also of the opinion that everyone has their own path and their own path to follow. I hope, one day , to reach it, but it’s good to keep your feet on the ground.” On the junior world record and whether it’s a final time in Paris. “We’ll see. Compared to 2021 it was semi-final time. We’ll see what happens this year and what will change.” Then it was Alisia Tettamanzi’s turn: “These days’ races will be very important training for me. The possibility of doing the 1500 allows me to get some feedback on my condition. My goals remain divided between swimming pool and open water. Me too I love competing a lot. I will do the Sette Colli and then the Assoluti cross-country races for the rest of the season.” Finally Marco Orsi. “I’m reaching the end of my career and there’s a bit of disappointment because it means closing a huge part of my life given that I started when I was only 5 years old. I’m trying to prepare myself because I’ll still have one or two seasons. But first, I want to try to return to the national team in short course”.
