LAMEZIA TERME Local elections are also underway in Calabria, which will concern 132 Municipalities, practically a third of the Municipalities in the region. As for the European elections, voting for the administrative elections takes place today from 3.00 pm to 11.00 pm, and tomorrow from 7.00 am to 11.00 pm. There are two candidates for mayor instead in Corigliano Rossano (CANDIDATES AND LISTS HERE): the duel will be between the outgoing mayor, Flavio Stasicandidate of the centre-left, and the regional councilor of Forza Italia, Pasqualina Straface, candidate for mayor of the centre-right. Special cases and curiosities

The local elections in Calabria also present some particular cases. First of all, there will be no voting in three municipalities in which elections were also scheduled: this is San Luca, a town in Aspromonte whose municipality has already been dissolved in the past due to mafia infiltration and which will be placed under police administration again due to the failure to present candidates mayor, which has already happened on other occasions, and then Melissa, a municipality in the Crotone area where no mayoral candidates presented themselves as an anti-mafia access commission was established, and San Lorenzo, in Reggino, here too due to a lack of candidates. All eyes then turned to the Municipality of Riace, in which Mimmo Lucano, the symbol of migrant reception policies, is back on track as mayoral candidate: practically dethroned five years ago by the explosion of the League, to the point of not even entering the City Council, now Lucano tries again to conquer the Municipality against the outgoing Antonio Trifoli, former standard-bearer of the Carroccio but now in Forza Italia orbit, and the former deputy mayor Franco Salerno.
