SULMONA. The municipal kennel of Sulmona, in the Noce Mattei area, was subjected to administrative seizure by the forestry police of the Ovidian capital, together with the Cites of Pescara. According to what has been ascertained, in fact, the structure is not registered in the regional register. A circumstance, already reported last year by some associations, which was discovered during the preparation phase of the multi-year management tender.
The Municipality of Sulmona has not yet remedied the irregularity, even if last April work began on the adaptation of the structure which involves the demolition of some illegal garages, the raising of internal fences (which are currently not up to standard), the restoration of the clinics, the creation of an area for dog walking and the construction of an area for the isolation of incoming dogs that are sick or have management problems.
The Carabinieri carried out the measure, borne by the deputy mayor Sergio Berardi, after having checked the dogs’ files, the conditions of the structure and the documentation in the possession of the managers. Now the ASL will have to validate the decree and, in the next few days, the 99 dogs currently housed will most likely be transferred elsewhere, pending regularization and the conclusion of the works.
