The great Francesco Guccini returns to Piazza Maggiore in Bologna

Francesco Guccini will return to Piazza Maggiore, in Bologna, on 17 June at 9.45pm for the first evening of Under the movie starsorganized by the Cineteca di Bologna for Bologna Summer.

The event celebrates 40 years since the famous “Maestrone” concert, Between the Via Emilia and the Westwhich was held in the same square on 21 June 1984.

That famous 1984 concert is remembered for having gathered more than 150,000 people, with the participation of Lucio Dalla, Giorgio Gaber, Paolo Conte, the Nomadi, the Equipe 84, Claudio Lolli, Giampiero Alloisio, Deborah Kooperman, Pierangelo Bertoli and the Viulàn.

During the event on 17 June, the singer-songwriter will dialogue with Massimo Cotto, recalling that historic evening, and at the end the souvenir film of the ’84 concert will be screened, allowing the public to relive those unforgettable moments.

Although Guccini has no traditional concert tour planned, his participation in cultural events has remained constant. On 1 December 2023, he presented his album “Canzoni da Osteria” at the Cinema Modernissimo in Piazza Re Enzo in Bologna, talking with Guido Giazzi, director of the musical magazine Buscadero. On 6 December, he presented the novel “Vola Golondrina” in Florence, in collaboration with Loriano Macchiavelli and moderated by the journalist Andrea Scanzi.
