Olbia, the nursery doesn’t want lively children: parents’ revolt

“Too lively, needing a lot of attention and a source of distraction for other children.” This is the reason that led to the expulsion of the third child within a few years from a nursery in Olbia. In the latter case it involved a 4-year-old child, who in May received this judgment from his teachers and the impossibility of attending the facility.

The parents turned to a lawyer, the lawyer Oriana Erittu, who warned the managers of the institute, claiming on several occasions that discrimination was being carried out against a minor. «The behavior that we have reported is serial», explained the lawyer, «because immediately after the media outcry of the first episode, my firm was contacted by two other couples. In these last two cases the aim is not to take revenge against the school, but to report incorrect behavior to the competent offices, to ensure that the structure no longer receives public funding”.

Similar episodes occurred in 2021 and 2023. In the first case, a child was deemed unsuitable as he was probably autistic, without even the possibility of being supported by an educator. In the following episode, last year, parents were required to pay for an additional educator for a child. «This leads me to think that there are many more cases that have occurred. As a private school that receives subsidies from the Sardinia Region, it absolutely cannot impose discrimination on students, even less so if this is done on the basis of pathologies or disabilities. This undermines the right to education”, added the lawyer.
