Falls from a ladder, hospital worker – L’Aquila

THE EAGLE. He falls from a ladder and falls from a height of about two metres. The victim of the accident at work is a 54-year-old from Pratola Peligna who ended up in the San Salvatore hospital in L’Aquila, where he is hospitalized in the neurosurgery department. The man was working at the monastery of Santa Caterina on behalf of a Sulmona company that deals with painting and glass installation. During the work, for reasons yet to be ascertained, he fell from a ladder, ending up disastrously on the ground. The worker was helped by colleagues and his employer who transported him to hospital without waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The 54-year-old was then subjected to all health checks and then hospitalized. In the fall he suffered a fracture of six ribs and a shoulder blade, which is why he will have to stay in hospital for a few more days. The worker’s conditions are not serious, but the scare was truly great as he himself said. “I slipped, I took a big risk but fortunately I’m here to talk about it,” said the 54-year-old.
The dynamics of the accident at work are being examined by the Carabinieri of the L’Aquila company, who intervened on site to carry out the usual investigations. The military, together with the ASL inspectors, will have to ascertain any irregularities on the construction site and whether the accident can be traced back, or not, to the worker’s incompetence. For this reason, the documentation in the possession of the Sulmona company was checked, so as not to leave anything to chance.
“I personally accompanied him to the hospital and made sure he was okay,” commented the company owner. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the capital was immediately informed of the matter and opened a case. (ada)
