DO NOT TOUCH THE BOLZANO GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONER!
We have just learned from the press and literally jumped from our seats, that the Bolzano Provincial Council has approved a motion from the Süd-Tiroler Freiheit for the abolition of the Government Commissariat (elsewhere Prefect). The motion was put to the vote and received 10 yeses and 5 nos. While 19 councilors did not participate in the vote.
The party’s document asks the Provincial Government to start negotiations with the Council of Ministers and the Government in order to abolish the aforementioned Commissariat. At the same time, transfer the responsibilities assigned to the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, including that of security, into the hands of the “Landeshauptmann” – “Governor” because he knows the territory better! As is known, the FLP “Federation of Public Workers” does not engage in politics, but it certainly cannot remain silent in the face of an act that it considers serious, visionary and provocative.
Yet another provocation to try to eliminate the role and representation of the Italian State in this territory. An unacceptable, reprehensible and to be rejected act. However, with all due respect for local politics (our union is free, autonomous and independent), we find it very difficult to learn that the motion was passed with 19 councilors who did not participate in the vote. Basically washing your hands in a fairly “Pilatesque” way.
Furthermore, we read that among the responsibilities to be assigned to the Province there is also that of safety. Which would mean transferring to a hypothetical Local Police the control of the territory and the supervision of security, both of the approximately 520,000 resident inhabitants and of the millions of citizens including tourists who visit the Province of Bolzano and those who cross it on the motorway .
It is unrealistic to think that in an increasingly globalized world in need of aggregations, someone could believe, instead, that isolation helps to make systems and development more efficient. Even in terms of safety. Where cooperation and the need of others is fundamental to overcome the challenges of a society that must face growing organized crime and more…
We remind you that to date, security is entrusted to the “State” law enforcement agencies which, until proven otherwise, appear to us to be the State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Fire Brigade etc… What we do we provincialize everyone, including civilian employees who do they belong to these sectors?
Or, do we have them intervene “on call” and come to the rescue only when someone is unable to manage emergencies? Is there really a plan to create a “statelet” made up of a few souls? Well, the FLP is ready to mobilize its employees and national institutions to stop the attempt in its tracks, yet another assault on diligence…
