Participants in the ‘Dinner of the Poor’ organized in Piazza Vittoria in Brindisi are beginning to gather to protest the welcome dinner organized in the city for the G7 leaders who will be welcomed this evening in the Castello Svevo around which there is an impressive security deployment.
The representative of the No G7 Puglia coordination table, Bobo Aprile, who promoted the event to express dissent against what he considers to be “war policies”, which will be discussed at the summit until 15 June, highlights: “We have no reason to be happy with this G7. We trust in the presence of the Pope to moderate their positions and materialize an increasingly broad opposition. We want to bring as many people into the streets against these war policies.”
Before the dinner, based on friselle and couscous, the debate will open on the various crisis areas, from Ukraine to the Middle East, passing through climate change and genetically modified organisms. The network of participating associations, including those that defend the rights of Palestinians and the Kurdish people, also takes sides “against climate change for a false ecological transition” and in favor of “immigration that is correct and not made up of lager”, they underline.
According to Aprile it is “an economic, social and military war: it’s all condensed. One lives in the other”.
