Our city has indeed candidate to host Eurogym 2026, a non-competitive gymnastics festival aimed at young people aged between 12 and 18 which will reach its fifteenth edition in 2026. The submission of the application took place at the headquarters of ChiantiBianca, in Piazza Largo Treviso in Pistoia, on Friday morning. As mentioned, in just a week the Technical Commission of the European Gymnastics Federation will meet in Dublin and will express the verdict among the range of locations in contention.

Introducing the reasons for the candidacy and explaining what Eurogym is Alessandra Mazzatostafederal coach: «Eurogym presents a non-competitive format in which young people, who there will be over 5 thousandwill perform in the afternoon on various stages specially set up in the main city squares. Days of sport, liveliness and colors that would give enormous prestige to Pistoia. In previous editions (the next one will be in Bodo, Norway, in a few weeks ed) more than 20 nations took part and in addition to the boys and girls there is something to consider the influx of families who will further fill the city.”

The councilor for sports promotion is also enthusiastic Alessandro Sabella, who underlined the importance of collaboration to ensure that everything succeeds in the best possible way: «Certainly the parties involved will have to establish a synergy and prepare to host a significant number of people. A similar event in Pistoia would generate a large economic impact, between hotel facilities and so on. We are fortunate to be geographically “in the center” of the region and close to three airports such as Florence, Pisa and Bologna. If everything goes right we will be able to show the beauty of Pistoia and Tuscany to many young people with their families, making them aware of the beauties of our territory”. «It’s a great opportunity for us too – he adds Maurizio Farnesi of ChiantiBanca -. We have always liked to be linked to the territory and to initiatives with actions and not with words and for such an event we could only say yes”.
